Parade for WSLL. - Monday, September 7th: The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. Coaches and players will ride in Corvettes. Parents and families are welcome to drive their own cars and be part of the parade as well.

The route will travel Eaton Avenue to Main Street, across the bridge to N. 2nd St., then to Dayton Street, ending at Marcum Park. We’ll have a brief program and presentation around 6:30 p.m. Everything should wrap up by 7:00 or 7:30 p.m.

Today, on this sacred Fourth of July in 2026, we celebrate two hundred and fifty years of liberty, resilience, and the enduring American dream. From the bold words of the Declaration of Independence to the countless sacrifices that secured our freedoms, this semiquincentennial reminds us what it means to be a nation “conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

As an Ohioan, I’m especially proud of our state’s role in building this great republic. Ohio’s motto—“With God, all things are possible”—embodies the faith, grit, and optimism that have carried our nation forward through every challenge.

May we honor the past, cherish our freedoms, teach our children the true story of America, and recommit ourselves to unity, integrity, and the big-tent ideals that make this country exceptional. Let freedom ring!

Exactly when did it become alright for Republicans to destroy other Republicans reputations and life for a primary? In the last few years I have seen the most horrible mailers being sent out to the public about people, that I happen to know, that are complete lies! Yes, I am one of them but it’s just unbelievable to me. I’ll show you a case in point these pictures are of my friend Jim Hoops.

Jim is one of the hardest working and kindest men I know. He has served in the Ohio House and has passed many wonderful republican, conservative bills. He worked with me on Health and Human services and cares about people. The man going after his seat served with both of us and never did a damn thing. Craig Riedel NEVER did anything but smile and agree with whoever he thought it was important to agree with. It’s terrible. He has sent awful mailers destroying Jim’s family and reputation. And he’s not the only one being treated this way! It’s embarrassing and should be!
When did this become ok?
It used to be that we were smart enough to hold onto our campaign funds to win against the other party. Not now! It’s more who can say the worst things about the other person!
Granted I am touchy about this subject. The last election hurt my reputation and my children with total lies.
But frankly these people are counting on you the public being stupid. I’m sorry , but it’s true. They know that in the districts you can’t possibly know all of the people personally so, they tell you lies and you, will see them and believe them. Even if it’s a kernel of the lie. They count on you just believing the worst of people. Because let’s face it, most people WANT to believe everyone in politics is corrupt and have it better than you.
Guess what, most don’t and most aren’t. When I went into the Ohio House, it was to serve the people and the area I love. The people I befriended felt the same way like Jim Hoops. We used to be a big tent at our party. If you keep shooting in the tent, well, gradually the group in that tent is so small no one really fits. It’s like the story of ten little Indians.
Now, I know there will be people that say this is all because of Trump. Ok. Whatever, but shouldn’t we be better than that?? Isn’t that something to strive for? Granted ,I don’t get Democrat mailers but, to be honest, I don’t see them doing this to each other. Maybe they do. Can’t say, but we better stop or we will keep getting people who do nothing. That’s right, I said it. Keep it up and you will end up with do nothing smiling fakes. You get that right? It’s time to figure it out because we are running out of time and certainly running out of great people to run for offices. Instead it looks like you get what PAC money or dark money pays for which is PUPPETS AND YES MEN!

This recognition touches my heart, as my connection to the Boys & Girls Club of Hamilton runs deep. For years, I have had the privilege of working with and supporting this remarkable organization. My parents were passionate, generous donors who truly loved the Club and everything it stands for. Their commitment continues to inspire me every day.
This honor also reflects the legislative work I was fortunate to lead as Chair of Behavioral Health, Chair of Health and Human Services, and as a member of the Finance Committee—efforts dedicated to building stronger support systems for our children and families.
In a time when our young people need safe spaces, mentorship, and opportunity more than ever, the Boys & Girls Clubs remain an indispensable force for good.
A special thank you to Tommy John for always being there—your unwavering support has meant more than words can express.
I am grateful beyond words to be recognized by such a transformative organization. My heart is full.
