Collecting a Feral Honey Bee Swarm

I have Three 5 frame nucs still available & can build a Medium nuc if someone is looking. These are locally mated daughter queens from my over-Wintered Carniolans - all marked. They are $180 + $20 deposit on the Pro-Nuc boxes & mesh bag. I'm just East of Hamilton, near Bridgewater Mall.

Fourth season with my Horizontal Langstroth. First time I've seen them make dual "laying" queens. The colony had queen cells but no new eggs for a couple weeks in the brood area. I just assumed I missed a swarm. Did a thorough inspection yesterday & found a new queen laying in the brood area. What surprised me is, I found the old queen all the way at the other end with her own brood area separated by about 10 frames of honey. No excluders & no follower boards. Got to love these little bugs in a box!

I'm explaining why I'm NOT doing a Demaree this year in "Side by Side Hive, the Two Queen Hive: Short". As my daily life has changed and lifting heavy Deep beehive boxes is becoming too difficult. This is a beekeeping tip that produces a LOT of honey with some, but not as much lifting. I explain a Side by Side hive or a Two Queen Hive that produces more honey than the 2 hives alone.

"Did I Loose the Virgin Queen Bee?", You'll witness a beekeeper's discovery of a virgin queen honey bee in one of his resource hives. Her small size clearly indicates she has recently emerged and has not yet mated, a crucial observation in successful beekeeping. Watch as the beekeeper navigates this delicate situation with his honeybees.

Over-Wintered 8 hives. Now up to 18. I expect at least 2 more soon.

Successful Resource Hives?
In this video, a beekeeper shares insights into his tallest bee hive this season (to-date), which originated from two resource hives that weren't strong enough to survive Winter. He details the process of combining these honeybees in October to ensure their survival and improve the bee hive's strength. This method is a crucial aspect of successful beekeeping and homesteading practices.
