Thank you Hunterdon County Chiefs Association for hosting “Building the LDH Pipeline”. We achieved and maxed out the pipeline at 2100GPM. Two engines “Super Sourced” the pipeline with one from a hydrant at approximately 1250 GPM and the other from a static source from a pond with nearly 100ft of hard sleeve suction. Both sources pushed the max flows to an engine 150ft away, subsequently pushing the flow through five engines. Great job !!!

When relay pumping a pipeline, stop looking at your master gauge. There is a significant loss of pressure through bends and bottlenecks within the pump housing that deceive many pump operators that think they are really pumping 185 psi through supply grade 5”.

Even with some well designed engines, I am noticing as much as 40-60 psi difference between the master gauge and the in-line LDH discharge gauge.

Let’s put our men and women in a position to win and feed max flows that are available!!!

JCK Academy is happy to see a bunch of fire companies who recently trained being placed into action and making this operation a major success. Built the infrastructure one step at a time without losing water. From hitch operations - to one drop tank- to multiple drops tanks!

8/31/2026 - Massive Rubbish Fire - Reliable Woods - Broadway Road in South Brunswick Twp.

Although a nuisance fire, the operation was necessary due to exposures being threatened, in addition to the fire smoking out the New Jersey Turnpike and an overwhelming amount of smoke scare calls in neighboring towns.

Alternative Water Supply using Tankers/Tenders from four (4) counties built an infrastructure supporting nearly 3000 gpm through hitch and drop tank operations.

Four (4) fill-sites, nearly twenty total tankers/ tenders from Middlesex TTF, tankers/tenders from Monmouth County, Somerset County, and one tanker/tender from Mercer operated on scene.

A total of 980,000 gallons of water flow was discharged just from tankers/tenders!!!

Ocean County !! Get ready for the big one on Sunday, October 4!!!

Fire Marshals, Fire Instructors, and USAR members all participated in the class that involved alternative water supply progressive methods, from relay pumping to tanker tender ops.

South River completed their final day with a full scale water supply exercise. We achieved approximately 3,000 gpm at the height of the incident. We utilized two water supply drop points with a total of four drop tanks. Three dynamic fill sites supplemented! Thank you to all the mutual aid that came and had fun with us. Great team work!

Thursday, July 24, 2026- SOUTH RIVER, NJ

Last night, firefighters from South River, North Brunswick, and East Brunswick completed the hands-on night of “Building the Water Supply Infrastructure”. Students became fluent in manifolds & hitches, dump tanks, transferring multiple dumps tanks, building dynamic fill-sites, and advanced drafting techniques.

This SUNDAY morning is their final big FULL SCALE WATER SUPPLY EXERCISE!! Goal flow is 3000-4000 gpm. See you all Sunday!!!

- FDC / Stand pipe Ops
- Dual Pumping
- Basic Foam Eductor Ops
- Pump panel gating
- Ladder Pipes / wagon pipes
- Utilizing master stream tip sizes

A great time and great opportunity to work with a new rigs spec’d for success !
