BKIR (Beekeepers in Residence) is Huneebee’s signature therapeutic and workforce development program for teens and young adults who are systems impacted. participants learn the art and science of beekeeping while developing meaningful connections, mindfulness strategies, leadership, resilience, and transferable job skills - facilitating healing and preparing them for future successes far beyond the hive.

we’re counting down the days to May 6-7 and The Great Give!

this Great Give, Huneebee Project is focusing on what matters most: showing up for the young people who have already trusted us with their growth. this summer, we’ll be re-launching monthly alumni dinners and weekly office hours. these consistent third spaces offer connection, job readiness support, and access to critical resources like therapy, housing, and food security. at the same time, we are working toward launching our next therapeutic and trauma-informed Beekeepers in Residence (BKIR) cohort. with the right support, we hope to welcome new participants as early as July 2026.

research is catching up to what we’ve witnessed for years: working with bees can ease anxiety, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. from veterans to college student - and especially the teens and young adults in our program - these little bee bodies offer something transformative.

as we continue to understand and build upon this emerging research, our team, too, is diving into years of rich data we’ve been gathering.

our goal: to better understand the impact of beekeeping on youth mental health - and how our model supports alumni in breaking cycles of intergenerational poverty and trauma. more soon! 🐝
