Fear has a way of convincing us that every decision must be made immediately. Every opportunity feels urgent. Every relationship feels like it needs an answer today. Yet wisdom often works at a very different pace!
Throughout Scripture, God rarely rewards impulsiveness. Instead, He repeatedly calls His people to seek counsel, pursue discernment, and walk carefully. Proverbs reminds us that "plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Sometimes the most spiritual thing a person can do is slow down long enough to gain clarity.

What does it mean for a church to welcome everyone without affirming everything? In this message from 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, Pastor Brandon Cobb addresses one of the most honest and difficult questions facing Christians today: Can we love people deeply while still submitting to the authority of Scripture fully? The gospel does not call us to ignore sin, soften sin, or make sin more acceptable. The gospel tells the truth about sin so Jesus can actually wash it away. God’s love is not fragile. It is holy, strong, patient, and powerful enough to confront what is broken without rejecting the person He came to redeem.
This sermon explores what the Bible says about sexual immorality, the meaning of “open and affirming,” the limits of “love is love,” and why Scripture gives us categories for obedience, not loopholes for desire. From Jesus’ words in Matthew 15 to Paul’s teaching in 1 Corinthians 6, this message invites us to see that communion with Christ means renouncing every false allegiance and receiving the mercy of the One who does not leave us in shame. At Eden Church, we believe every word of the Bible, we welcome everyone God loves, and we trust that Jesus still washes, sanctifies, and justifies sinners by His Spirit.
