Among the artists who appeared at Har-Ber Village this year on three stages were Clint Walker, Jerome Campbell, Josh Willis, Pearlgrace & Co., Heartland Dulcimers, Possum Trot, Jana Jae and Friends, Barry “Bones” Patton, Marriott Western Swing Band, Festival Fiddlers, Matthew Greif, and The Coleman Sisters. The Oklahoma Hawks are the new kids in the CMFL this season. An expansion team if you will. And with expansion teams in any major sport, they are behind the eight-ball when it comes to obtaining players – the better, more established players belong to the more established teams. And when it comes to expansion teams in semi-pro football, where you are also responsible for fielding your own roster, that problem is magnified.

This Saturday afternoon, the Hawks return to Ridgerunner Stadium to take on the Kansas City Bulldogs at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs are considered an ‘affiliate team’ who are filling in as opponents for teams with holes in their schedule. The game will count towards the schedule and the race for the final playoff spot in the division. Aason Cross (quarterback) said that there is still a mathematical chance they can make the final playoff spot, but they will need to win out, and hope the two teams in front of them lose the remainder of their games. Oklahoma tax revenues dipped in May following a record-setting April, with the latest monthly tax revenue totaling $1.28 billion—a 36% decline from April largely due to the end of tax season. But broader trends in employment, inflation, and consumer spending signal that Oklahoma’s economy remains steady but guarded, mirroring national patterns. Over the past 12 months, the state collected $16.88 billion in tax revenue, down just 0.3% from the previous year, indicating a stable fiscal base even as certain sectors adjust to tighter monetary policy and shifting demand.

“This month’s numbers reflect the natural downshift after tax season, but the year-long picture shows Oklahoma’s economy holding steady,” said State Treasurer Todd Russ. “Consumers are still spending, sales tax revenues are holding, and manufacturing is showing strength—key signs that support continued resilience.”

Across the U.S., states are seeing flattening or slightly declining revenues as the economy cools in response to Federal Reserve interest rate policies and static inflation. Russ says Oklahoma is no exception—but remains well-positioned due to its balanced budget requirements and sector diversity. Read the full story in Friday's Grove Sun.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond is warning Oklahoma consumers about the resurgence of a scam where fraudsters are producing fake arrest warrants and asking individuals to post preemptive bail at virtual currency kiosks.

“Oklahomans need to stay vigilant protecting themselves from unscrupulous thieves out to steal money and exploit personal information,” Drummond said. “Consumers should always be skeptical of unsolicited communication and are encouraged to report scam attempts to law enforcement.”

The scam recently appeared in Tulsa where a fraudster claiming to represent the federal public defender's office sent fake arrest warrants to several senior citizens. Scammers also have claimed to be law enforcement officers. The bogus warrants have been shared through email and text messages. Read the full story in Friday's Grove Sun.
