About three years ago a church in Grants Pass decided to sponsor Bible translation in Ghana. They partnered with a Ghanaian organization to translate three books of the Bible (Genesis, Psalms and Isaiah), into three languages (Ngangbo, Logba and Tafi) in three years. They called it Ghana 3. The project just completed successfully! Here are translators from each language working with a translation consultant. Now the translators are continuing with other books of the Bible.

The Bible is not available everywhere — yet. But here’s where we’re focused next.
Each number marks a language still waiting for God’s Word:

📍 Anglo-Lusophone Africa: 39 needs
📍 Francophone Africa: 88 needs
📍 Americas: 45 needs
📍 Islands Asia: 84 needs
📍 Mainland Asia: 144 needs
📍 Eurasia: 29 needs
📍 Pacific: 257 needs (the highest in the world!)

We’re praying that doors will open so all people from every nation may one day have God’s truth in their own language.

Join us in asking God to transform hearts and make a way for His Word to reach every language still waiting.

Did you know sign language isn’t universal — and neither is Bible access?

There are over 390 known sign languages around the world and 77 of them still don’t have any Bible translation started. That means millions of Deaf people are still waiting to encounter God’s Word in a language and format they clearly understand.
Let’s join together in prayer for these communities, asking God to open doors, raise up translators and bring His Word to every Deaf person still waiting. 🙏

Roseanna, lead translator for the Choctaw Bible Translation Committee, recently sat inside an SIL sound booth.

For 2 weeks, she steadily read verse after verse into the microphone. These recordings will be included in a digital app of the Choctaw Bible.

She described the impact this makes in her own life, saying, “[The Bible] has a much deeper meaning to our people when we hear our own language being spoken in God's word . . . I can read the English, but then when I see it written in Choctaw, it just smooths my heart.”

Alex had never heard the story the story of Jesus resisting Satan’s temptations. Recently, however, he attended a listening group meeting in the home of one of his friends. In these meetings they listen to Scripture recorded by the local project team in their heart language, Bali.

That day, they listened to chapter four of Luke’s Gospel. Alex listened carefully to the story of Jesus being tempted. It amazed Alex that Jesus never gave in, even when he was hungry or when he was offered worldly riches—Alex wanted to do the same.

During the discussion time, Alex spoke up, saying, “Today people have fallen into the trap of money, and they commit wrong things, even people don’t fear God. From this story what I can learn is that I should not fall into the trap of desire for the worldly things and commit wrong things.”

Ethnicity and God’s Kingdom 11/16/2023

In Romans chapter 9, the Apostle Paul writes of his attachment to his people by ancestry and human identity. With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it. My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them....

Identity and connection 11/10/2023

Because I worked in translating the Bible into the smaller languages of Africa, I often dealt with issues of cultural identity. A people's language is a big part of their identity. If their language starts disappearing, they feel that their identity is threatened. When we start translating the Bible, it is often seen as enhancing their identity and giving it added prestige....
