THE CAMPAIGN
The West Valley has rallied around the men and women of Luke Air Force Base since its inception in 1941. In 2009, Luke Forward was launched as a broad public campaign to secure the F-35, the fighter jet expected to eventually replace existing aircraft, at Luke. The Luke Forward campaign was launched by the West Valley Partners (Maricopa County and the cities and towns within the county west of Interstate17) and Fighter Country Partnership to generate awareness and support of the positive impacts the F-35 will bring to Arizona. The goal was to show decision makers in Washington, D.C., that Arizona strongly supports Luke Air Force Base continuing to serve as the nation’s premier fighter-pilot training facility. The Luke Forward campaign operated from the home base of LukeForward.com. The website’s purpose is to educate and update the community on the progress of the campaign and promote statewide support. The campaign used electronic communications, social media, a speaker’s bureau and other outreach tools. Campaign highlights include:
Several statewide delegation visits to Washington, D.C.
21,000 registered supporters statewide.
10,000 e-mails to decision makers.
1,500 participants in four official Environmental Impact Statement hearings throughout the West Valley. STATEWIDE DELEGATION
The Luke Forward campaign engaged public- and private-sector leaders from across Arizona. Several supporters went to Washington, D.C., including this delegation organized by the Greater Phoenix Economic Council in April 2010, which included Mesa Mayor Scott Smith and Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill. Air Force announced its final selection of Luke as the first F-35 training center. The Air Force will initially place 72 new aircraft at Luke, likely to arrive in phases over the next couple of years. In addition to ensuring the long-term viability of Luke, the F-35 training mission will serve as an economic stimulus for Arizona. The new fighter will require construction projects, facility improvements and infrastructure upgrades, which are getting under way this fall. It is anticipated that the construction work can initially bring as much as $110 million and about 2,290 jobs. By Lori Baker - The Republic | azcentral.com 11/2/2012

The Dorm Dweller Holiday Party was December 5th at Club 56. This event was open to all Airmen residing in the dorms. FCP sponsored the food, the amazing door prizes, as well as the backpacks that the Airmen received. We hosted over 200 Airmen!! What an amazing evening.
It is truly a unique and awesome sight with F-35s flying regularly at Luke AFB now!!! Fighter Country Foundation will be unveiling some massive projects of their own in the near future...stay tuned.
Meanwhile, enjoy the Sound of Freedom in the West Valley!!!

As a registered supporter of the F-35 training mission at Luke Air Force Base, Fighter Country Partnership would like to remind you of the upcoming Luke Days Open House at Luke AFB. It has been 3 years since Luke opened its doors for an Open House. The Open House and air show will take place the weekend of March 15th and 16th and is open to the general public. Admission is FREE, however there is a parking fee of $10.
As a longtime supporter of Luke, we wanted to make you aware of a little known opportunity to enjoy the Open House in a unique way. Luke offers a limited number of Thunder Club tickets to the public (http://tickets.ticketforce.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=1252). These tickets allow you entry into the Thunder Club tent at the show center – the best seats in the house! This tent provides incredible seating, catered food plus refreshments, and preferred parking each day. Luke also anticipates having an F-35 as a static display during the open house!

OH YEAH!
First F-35 bound for Luke AFB...
The 100th Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, the first aircraft destined for , sits on the assembly line at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas. It is expected to arrive at Luke Air Force Base early next year. AF-41 is one of 126 F-35s in various stages of production worldwide.
