The Cupper is the first metal forming process of can making, and how the aluminum is fed into the press is crucial for success. Although there are variations on how it's done, the concept is fairly standard. A giant coil of Aluminum are held by the uncoiler, which feeds the coil through a lubricator before it enters the Cupper.
Plant managers and production teams already have enough to worry about. Your testing equipment should deliver reliable results, be easy to use, and hold up year after year without breaking the budget.
That's the philosophy behind Altek.
Offering dependable testing equipment & IPS-backed service and support, we're focused on helping can makers make confident decisions while keeping an eye on the bottom line.
Every can maker wants consistent cross hatch results.
But operator variation, limited process visibility, and time-consuming troubleshooting can make that easier said than done.
The X2 PRO™ was engineered to bring greater control to the cross hatch process with automated media feeding, enhanced diagnostics, activity tracking, and seamless integration with plant systems or IPS ToolCONTROL™ .

The process of can making is a testament to the power of technology and teamwork. From the Cupper producing quality cups to the Bodymaker transforming them into quality cans, every step requires precision and attention to detail. Can making is a combination of machine, people, and process working together to create something truly remarkable.
Older cross hatch machines can leave operators guessing, increasing the risk of over or under cross hatching.
The X2 PRO™ takes the guesswork out by automatically tracking and logging every cross hatch. With database connectivity, a user-friendly 10" HMI, and proven reliability, can makers get the traceability and confidence they need to keep production running smoothly.

How do operators troubleshoot fl**ge defects?
Fl**ge defects can reveal valuable clues about machine performance. Cracked, split, wavy, rolled-over, peaked, or short fl**ges are often symptoms of issues related to match gap settings, timing, tooling alignment, spindle positioning, or vacuum performance. Understanding the defect is the first step toward identifying the root cause.
