Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli documented the system in 1494, and the basic idea is still used by businesses today: every transaction affects at least two accounts.
The software has changed a little since then. The math? Not so much.

Don’t wait until tax season to clean up your books.
If you have uncategorized transactions, missing receipts, old invoices, or accounts that haven’t been reconciled, fall is a great time to start getting things cleaned up.
