None of these things have anything to do with each other… which pretty much sums up what happens around here when October hits. 😂🍂

You guys absolutely surprised us with the preorders this week. A LOT of Cinnamon Roll 4-packs are already spoken for... I mean... A LOT, along with quite a few other goodies for Saturday morning. ❤️ Pre-orders just skyrocketed this week, which is amazing.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes…

🍯 Our newest honey infusion just finished, and we haven’t even tasted it yet. The jar of botanicals in the photo is a little preview of what went into our honey infusion. 😊

🌿 A fresh round of extracts just finished up too. Those are cocoa nibs soaking in the jar... months of waiting and finally opening it to smell the most delicious chocolate smell! 🍫
These are carefully curated, in small batches, for our newest extracts. They will be blended to create baking flavors that are perfect for fall, and I will guarantee you've never seen these in stores before.

☕ On top of everhthing else, we’re currently drinking our way through new fall tea blends, tweaking and testing until we decide which ones deserve a spot on the shelf.

October might be our favorite month at Copper Spur Farm because apparently it gives us permission to make ALL THE THINGS. 😂

The only problem…

We’re running out of room at the farm stand.

So help us decide: what are you most curious to try? The new honey infusions, extracts, or fall teas? 👇

And if you’re coming Saturday… you might want to come hungry, and come early. 😉 Cooler temps are on the way, and we are super excited!

Cinnamon Rolls 4pk 09/30/2026

Apparently, we still haven’t figured out how many Cinnamon Rolls is “enough.” 😂

No matter how many trays we bake, Saturday morning seems to go the same way...

🔥 Cinnamon Rolls come out of the oven.
🚗 Neighbors start pulling in.
😬 And before long, somebody walks up to the counter and hears the words:

“I’m so sorry… we just sold the last tray.”

We hate saying it almost as much as you hate hearing it.

So we're bringing back something we used to keep pretty limited...

🥐 SATURDAY MORNING CINNAMON ROLL PREORDERS ARE OFFICIALLY OPEN.

If you already know Cinnamon Rolls are part of your Saturday morning plans, you can now reserve your tray ahead of time and know it'll be waiting for you when you get here.

No racing the Saturday morning crowd.
No hoping there’s one tray hiding in the back.
No arriving 10 minutes after the last one disappears. 😂

Just order ahead, come see us Saturday morning, and we'll have yours reserved.

Gates open at 8:00am, with hot and fresh cinnamon rolls hitting the stand right when we open.

🐔 Well… apparently we forgot we already did the homework.

While digging through some of our older research and formulation notes, we came across a chicken supplement formula we had worked on quite a while ago... long before we had an entire apothecary full of herbs, spices, roots and botanicals sitting at our fingertips.

The original formula came out of a lot of reading, veterinary research, poultry studies, and comparing ingredients that have been studied for things like heat stress, seasonal changes, feather condition, molting, digestive support, immune support and overall laying-hen wellness.

And then… apparently we put it away and completely forgot about it. 😂 (We do that alot)

So today we pulled the old research back out, made a few updates, walked into the apothecary and got to work.

Pumpkin seed. Fennel. Garlic. Oregano. Thyme. Cayenne. Clove. Turmeric. Stinging Nettle. A small amount of natural mineral support.

Ground, blended, and mixed into the girls’ feed.

Now we wait.

We’re really curious to see what kind of changes we notice over the next few weeks... particularly as the flock works through heat stress, feather recovery, seasonal transition and a pretty dramatic slowdown in egg production.

We had actually talked in the past about eventually submitting this formulation through AZDA and turning it into a properly branded poultry product, but never pushed it any further. (Like the 100+ other formulations sitting in the notebooks)

That may change.

If we see the response we’re hoping for, and if this is something that would be useful to other local chicken owners, we might just have to start producing it.

🤔 Would anyone around here be interested in a locally made botanical based feed topper for backyard chickens?

And for those who don’t know this little piece of Copper Spur history… we actually formulated an entire equine supplement brand too.

Yeah. The guy around here... my husband, is kind of a nerd when it comes to chemistry, formulations, nutrition and what he refers to as “alchemy.” 😂

Apparently we just needed to give him an apothecary. The only down side is your house smelling like a mix of Bakery and the soap aisle at Whole Foods at any given time.

We’ll keep you posted on how the girls respond.

🐔 A quick update about our farm-fresh eggs

We want to give our regular egg customers a heads-up about a temporary change we're making with our laying flock.

For the past year or so, we've maintained a soy-free feeding program, and many of you specifically seek out our eggs because of how our hens are fed. We know that matters to some of our customers, which is why we want to be completely transparent about what's changing.

Right now, though, our flock is telling us that something isn't working.

We're currently going through roughly 120 pounds of feed every week while producing only about 4 dozen eggs.

At current feed prices, that means there is approximately $17–$18 worth of feed alone in every dozen eggs we're producing... before cartons, bedding, supplements, care, labor, or any of the other costs involved in keeping the flock.

More importantly, we've also seen decreased laying and poor feather condition among some of the hens. Rather than continuing with the same feeding program simply to maintain a label, we're going to put the health and condition of the birds first.

For the next several weeks, we will temporarily discontinue our soy- and corn-free egg option and transition the flock to a higher-protein, nutritionally complete recovery ration designed to support laying and feather regrowth.

Our goal is to get the girls healthy, feathered out, and producing normally again.

Once the flock has stabilized, we plan to revisit a corn- and soy-free ration, only for a portion of our flock. We plan to do this only if we can formulate one that gives the hens the protein, amino acids, minerals, and energy they actually need to thrive.

If you specifically purchase from us because you require eggs from hens fed a corn- and soy-free diet, please know that our eggs will NOT qualify as corn/soy-free during this temporary period. We would much rather be upfront with you than quietly make a change and continue using a claim that is no longer accurate.

We appreciate everyone who supports our little farm, and we'll keep you updated as the flock recovers.

New this weekend: Copper Spur Skillet Dinner Mixes 🍳

If “What’s for dinner?” is the question that sends your house over the edge after a long day… we made these for you. Actually... We made these for ourselves, but figured you may like them too!

During farm-stand season, we can spend 12+ hours per day baking, packing, and making products... Then we need to take care of the chickens, the horses, the school pickups... And after everything else, we still need to turn around and make dinner for our family before quickly running to extracurricular activities.

We wanted something quick, filling, and full of flavor without going back to the boxed meals we had stepped away from.

So this summer, we started creating our own one-skillet dinner mixes: simple protein, straightforward ingredients, and a real dinner on the table in about 25–30 minutes.

Our first small farm-stand batch includes:
- Cheeseburger Mac — add ground beef, water, milk, and butter. This one took a few tries, but it earned its place as a family favorite.
- Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta — add chicken, milk, and butter. So far, this is the family favorite.
- Southwest Beef Skillet Rice — add ground beef and water. We love it with Rotel, freshly shredded cheddar, and sour cream.

We grind and blend many of the seasonings ourselves in the Apothecary, keeping these mixes simple, flavorful, and easy to recognize from the ingredient list.

This is a small test batch, so come early if you want to tuck a few easy dinners into your pantry for next week.
