From the diamond to the firehouse! ⚾🚒
How cool is this? Two Gilbert firefighters, Captain Andy Larkin and Matt McConnell, once chased big league dreams in professional baseball. Now they’ve traded cleats for boots and are bringing that same teamwork, grit, and heart to serving our community.
Different uniforms, same mission: show up, work hard, and be there when people need you most.
Gilbert is lucky to have them on the team! 👏🔥
Gilbert firefighters find new calling after life on the diamond Several firefighters with the Gilbert Fire Department have traded their cleats for boots.
Gilbert is moving forward with plans to auction a town-owned 19-acre parcel near Ray Road and Santan Village Parkway.
The vacant site is at the northeast corner of Ray Road and Santan Village Parkway, near Topgolf Gilbert, Crossroads District Park, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Location: Northeast corner of Ray Rd & Santan Village Pkwy
Appraised Value: $6.39 million
Bids Due: June 1 at 2:00 PM
The property is currently designated Parks/Open Space in the Gilbert General Plan and zoned Public Facilities/Institutional. A future buyer may need a General Plan amendment and rezoning if they want to change the land use.
This one is worth watching, especially with its location near Loop 202, Topgolf, Crossroads District Park, and nearby residential areas.

🔥The Town of Gilbert says there have been 6 trash truck fires in the past year, and improper disposal is a major reason why.
Do not put hazardous items in your trash or recycling, including:
• Batteries
• Pool chemicals
• Paint
• Other hazardous materials
These items can spark fires and create dangerous situations for sanitation workers and neighborhoods. Please help keep Gilbert safe by disposing of hazardous materials the right way.

Well, Gilbert chicken fans… it’s not our pleasure to share this update.
The Chick-fil-A at SanTan Village is closing today for a multi-month renovation.
Go Gilbert called and confirmed the location is closing down today, with hopes to reopen sometime in October.
So yes, the SanTan Village Chick-fil-A is taking a little chicken sabbatical.
Patrons can still get their Chick-fil-A fix at other nearby locations while this one is under construction.
We’ll keep an eye out for updates and let you know when the “my pleasure” returns to SanTan Village.

Movie Night in the Park is back at the Gilbert Civic Center Lawn!
The Town of Gilbert’s Spring 2026 Movies in the Park season continues with Zootopia 2 this Friday, May 15.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the movie begins around sunset.
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and drinks, then settle in for a family-friendly evening on the lawn. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Dogs are welcome too, but they must stay on a leash, and owners are asked to clean up after them.

Aubergine Kitchen appears to be headed to Gilbert.
The health-focused restaurant is listed as one of the tenants for Signature at SanTan Village, the new retail development planned at the northwest corner of SanTan Village Parkway and Williams Field Road.
Aubergine already has a Valley location in Mesa, where the menu includes bowls, salads, wraps, smoothies, and other Mediterranean-inspired options.
No official Gilbert opening date, suite number, or grand opening details have been posted yet, so we’ll keep an eye out for more.
