Meet Toby ~ he will be joining us soon in rescue. He is a very handsome 6 1/2 yr old sable sheltie who has had some major changes in his home life recently which has made it necessary for him to be looking for a new forever.
He is a sweet, smart boy, house-trained and uses a dog door. He will need a family who will be patient with him and help him build some confidence, having a confident dog buddy in the house would be a wonderful bonus and help him feel more secure.
He does have some allergies and has been eating food for sensitive skin. It also seems food might be his love language, so he will need to lose a few pounds as he currently weighs in at about 35lbs.
If you’re willing to open your heart and home to this boy pls let us know. Applications can be found on our website www.swcsrescue.com Mention him by name 🐾

Welcome Ryder! Ryder is likely a Sheltie mix and is between 2 and 3 years old. His original family worked to try to rehome him, but somehow he ended up in the shelter instead.
He is a healthy boy, gets along great with other dogs, loves to play, is crate trained, leash trained, loves to ride in the car, and is ready for his next adventure with his new family.
Ryder has a little bit of vetting he has to get done, but in the meantime, if you're looking for an awesome companion that's just a smart as he is handsome, reach out to us at www.swcsrescue.com.
Applications to be considered for adoption can be found on our website.

Welcome Robin ~ This pretty senior girl found herself at an Albuquerque shelter after being picked up as a stray. She is currently getting lots of TLC at her foster home as her coat was very matted, her nails were very long, she’s a bit overweight and has a touch of arthritis. She is currently weighing in at 22lbs and needs to lose a few lbs which should help with the arthritis.
She has had a vet visit and got an overall good report, the vet estimates her at 10-11 yrs old, but she does need a dental badly which we will schedule.
Her foster mom says she’s a good girl, easy to handle, has gotten a couple doses of arthritis meds and is moving around much better, she’s also having fun playing with the resident sheltie. We’re getting to know her and will update later.
If you’re interested in opening your heart and home to a sweet senior please complete an application at www.swcsrescue.com.

Meet Blueberry. This big, attractive 3yr old girl was found as a stray outside Arlington, TX, with another heeler mix-type dog. Blueberry immediately warmed up to the shelter staff, and they reached out to SWCSR to see if we could help her.
Her current foster tells us, "Blueberry has been a great foster dog. She is excellent with other dogs. I have an adult male Collie and a 4-month-old Belgian Tervuren, and they all play together. She walks well on a leash, rides politely in a vehicle, and has a great recall. Blueberry has learned the commands sit, down, and give paw. She is 99% housebroken. Best of all, she has the sweetest disposition. She wants to please and is so very loving with everyone. She also takes care of our puppy as if he were her own, and she has not bothered our chickens."
Blueberry is a big girl, weighing approximately 60 pounds. She has a beautiful coat, soft ears, and enjoys being brushed. She is crate trained and very dog-friendly.
If you are looking for a gorgeous and loving Collie mix, or perhaps a springer spaniel/Collie mix, Blueberry may be the perfect dog for you. Beauty, brains, and love all rolled into one package.
For more information on Blueberry, contact [email protected] or complete an application at www.SWCSrescue.com.

We received an update from Randy and Barb on their beautiful Dulce:
Thought I’d give you a little update on Dulce. It was a year ago today that Bill brought her to the house. She’s doing quite well, still kind of a crazy little girl ha ha. Quite settled here. Love’s the backyard and the freedom of no crate. I have to say she still has a little ways to go, but has come a long ways.
We love getting updates from our adopters ❤️🐾

**Microchip Clinic this weekend **
The Coalition of All Breed Rescue of Arizona (CABRA), a nonprofit IRS 501(c)(3) organization is having another low cost microchip and vaccination clinic Sunday May 17 from 9 to 2:00 p.m. at the University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension building on 4341 E. Broadway in Phoenix (roughly 43rd Place and Broadway and by the traffic light). NO APPOINTMENT IS NECESSARY. Just come on by. Check out these other benefits
• HomeAgain microchip including registration is only $20 each. We think HomeAgain is the best
• Vaccinations (parvo/distemper, rabies, or bordatella) are only $15 each if the dog/cat gets a microchip or has one ($20 each if they don't). We do have the cat equivalent of distemper shots at the same prices.
• No office visit charge.
• Open to general public. Anyone can come
• Accept cash, checks, debit, or credit as payment
Microchips are a big help in getting lost dogs and cats returned to their owners. NOBODY thinks their dog is going to get out and get lost but the pound is full of those dogs. Even the best owners can lose a dog.
Don't wait till your pet gets lost to think about microchipping. At these prices you don’t want to risk it.
