FULL-TIME VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

The Adams County SPCA is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team!

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position working in our busy shelter surgery program. We are looking for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, works well as part of a team, and wants to make a difference in the lives of animals in our community.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience working in a high-volume spay/neuter clinic setting is required
• Strong surgical preparation, monitoring and recovery skills
• Ability to safely handle both cats and dogs
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
• Dependable, hardworking and able to work well as part of a team
• Knowledge of medication
• Willingness to learn and be open to new ideas, procedures and techniques
• Ability to remain calm, flexible and professional when the unexpected happens, because in shelter medicine, it will!

Our veterinary team performs a large number of spay/neuter surgeries each year through our shelter, low-cost spay/neuter and TNR programs. This position gives you the opportunity to use your skills every day while helping animals in the community.

We are a small team with a big mission, so we are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to jump in, help where needed and become an important part of what we do.

💕 HAPPY TAIL! 💕

A little over three years ago we had a beautiful Husky mix named Snow, who gave us eleven puppies! It was right around the holiday, so they all got Easter names. Cadbury was one of the little boys, and who knew he would get this big and handsome! And before you say it's not the same dog, yes it is! Here's what his family had to say about their big boy, Charlie:

"Hi!! It’s been a little while but I wanted to update you on Charlie! He’s almost 100 pounds and loving life! He loves walks around the neighborhood, a little sweet treat on Sunday evenings from our area ice cream truck Dairy Dan, and naps on the couch while football plays on the tv!?

CHARLIE
Charlie is a black Flat-Coated Retriever mix. He’s only about knee-high, and he is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls you will ever meet.

He would be absolutely perfect for someone who is retired and looking for a companion. He loves going for walks, but he’s just as happy laying around getting belly rubs! He likes other dogs, but we think he would absolutely LOVE being an only child and getting all the attention for himself.

If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle best friend to spend your days with, Charlie might just be your guy. ❤️

JAGGER
Jagger is one of the most beautiful German Shepherds you will ever meet!

This handsome boy was running around Biglerville for almost two weeks before someone was finally able to catch him. When he first arrived, he had some trust issues. After being on his own for that long, he had learned that he needed to fend for himself.

But after about 48 hours, Jagger remembered who he was and realized he didn’t have to fend for himself anymore.

Now he is incredibly sweet and absolutely LOVES attention! We think he would make a wonderful dog for an older child, maybe around 10 or older, who is looking for a new best friend to grow up with.

CHICKIE
Chickie is one of the smartest Huskies I’ve seen in a long time.

When this beautiful girl came to us, she had severe damage to her neck from being tied out with a prong collar. Her neck was badly infected, and yet she allowed us to shave around it, clean her wounds, treat her injuries and give her a bath. She never once made a peep.

Her injuries were horrible, but seeing the scars and knowing this had been going on for a very long time was absolutely heartbreaking.

Despite everything she has been through, Chickie is an incredibly smart, beautiful girl who deserves a second chance with someone who will love her, appreciate her and show her what life is supposed to be like.

SYLVIA
Sylvia is absolutely adorable! She is very small and dainty, with a huge heart, and she just wants to learn how to be a dog.

She is actually still figuring out what being a normal, loved dog is all about, but she has come such a long way and is doing great!

Sylvia can be a little scared when you first meet her, but give her a few seconds and she’ll be eating out of the palm of your hand.

Sometimes the dogs who need a little extra patience are the ones who end up loving you the hardest. ❤️

These are just a few of the wonderful dogs waiting for their second chance. Every one of them has a different story, a different personality and a different idea of what their perfect home looks like.

Maybe one of them has been waiting for YOU. 🐾❤️

This intact male dog was found on route 94 between Race Track Road and Tropical Treat in Berwick Township.
