"Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures
Project Hope strives to match current and former foster youth, as well as, other at-risk youth from the community, ages 13-20, with a positive, caring adult in the community to coach them in daily living activities, be a listening ear, introduce them to new opportunities, empower them to make responsible decisions, and spend time pursuing activities of shared interest. Matches are thoughtfully made and meet weekly according to their own schedules. Volunteers involved with our Apartment Mentor Program (AMP) work with homeless youth living in our apartment program for up to 90 days, helping them with independent living skills such as resume writing and shopping for interview clothes on a budget. Group Mentors or Independent Living presenters volunteer their time once a year to the youth that we serve, sharing an interest or expertise (examples: financial advising, bird hunting, meditation, healthy cooking, etc.). This is a one-time volunteer experience and always opens the eyes of our youth! Interested in being a part of Project Hope one way or another? :-) Email [email protected]

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month a time to learn what healthy relationships really look like. Teen dating violence can happen in person, online, or through texting, and it includes any behavior that hurts, threatens, or controls someone in a relationship.
This can look like physical harm, unwanted sexual pressure, constant insults, controlling someone’s actions, or repeatedly contacting them in ways that make them feel unsafe. These experiences can affect a person’s confidence, health, and future relationships.
The good news? Violence is preventable. By learning how to communicate, set boundaries, and respect each other, teens can build strong, healthy relationships from the start. Programs like the CDC’s Dating Matters® help teach these skills to young people, families, and schools.
Every teen deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected. This month, let’s spread awareness and help create a future where all relationships are healthy ones.
