Adams County Library System

ACLS libraries will be closed next Monday, October 12th for staff training.

The annual banned books observance was launched in 1982 by Judith Krug, director of the ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom. It was never intended as a political statement, but as an awareness campaign: a reminder that the freedom to seek and express ideas is a cornerstone of democratic life.

Celebrate your freedom to read today, tomorrow, and always!

BUZZ BUZZ! We are shaking things up this month with a hive-full of events inspired by "The Music of Bees" by Eileen Garvin and it's not too late to join us!

From music therapy to beekeeping 101 and book discussions, we’ve got a swarm of activities for everyone. Don't wing it! Mark your calendars and join the colony!

Banned Books Week is a time to celebrate the power of stories, the importance of different voices, and the freedom to explore ideas through books.

This week, pick up a book that challenges you, introduces you to a new perspective, or simply sparks your curiosity. Every reader deserves the opportunity to discover, question, imagine, and learn. ❤️📖

Celebrate the freedom to read!

They say the first 250 years was just a warm-up. What's your wish for America's next 250 years? Flying cars in every home? Taco trucks on every corner? More solutions to plaguing problems?

Stop by this month and share your wish on our Wish Wall!

Something wonderful is waiting to be unwrapped at Adams County Library System and it’s more than a book! 🍂

🎁This year, our Annual Fall Appeal invites you to discover all the possibilities your library brings to our community. Your support helps make these possibilities available to everyone in our community.

Adams County Library System is #15 in the 2026 Giving Spree! We look forward to celebrating generosity with our community at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg from 3–7 PM!

🎉 TIME IS RUNNING OUT! 🎉
There’s still time to get your referral in—but don’t wait! All referrals must be received by October 9th. Refer. Share. Win.
