Today, many from Musselman Library and beyond gathered to celebrate the life of Anna Jane Moyer, longtime research librarian at Gettysburg College, who passed away on September 14 at 92.

Anna Jane arrived at Gettysburg in 1961. She is remembered by many alumni as a helpful and kind-hearted librarian at the Reader Services Desk at Schmucker Library, who both knew the reference book collection inside out and remembered the name and something special about each person she helped. While she had a no-nonsense presence at work, Anna Jane also had a whimsical side that she shared with her co-workers, planning sometimes elaborate events to bring together library staff in fun and unexpected ways.

Anna Jane retired in 1999 and spent her post Musselman Library years researching, writing, and delivering lectures on historical topics to local civic organizations. She was a story-teller and a collector of books. One of her favorite pastimes was reading stories to young children from her immense collection of children’s literature.

Anna Jane Moyer touched generations of Gettysburg College students and faculty, helping them become better researchers and writers, and she inspired her colleagues to find joy in their work every day.

Tours will run every day at 10am, 3:30pm, and 4:30pm. All participants get some library swag and will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of noise-cancelling wireless headphones!

Muscleman Library will be closed Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3 for Independence Day. Have a fun and safe holiday!

The library is collecting donations of textbooks for the Office of Multicultural Engagement’s Mosaic Minds library. This program helps students who need textbook assistance for the whole semester. Bring your donations to the Desk for easy drop off—just ask for a bookmark to note which class and professor your book is assigned for!

Please note!! We cannot accept donations of rental textbooks. Please return any rentals to the appropriate retailers. (Check your rental agreement for return details and deadlines.) If you borrowed books from the Mosaic Minds library, please return them directly to the OME office!

Last week, the library got to continue one of our favorite traditions! Our end-of-the-year celebration is a thank you to all of our students, and it’s especially a chance for us to honor our graduating seniors!! Keep an eye on our stories all week to meet and congratulate our very own Senior Stars!

Happy National Library Week!! To share the library joy, we’re hosting another Library Plant giveaway! Adopt your own pothos propagated from the plants among the stacks! There will be two giveaway times:

Tuesday, April 21 at 11:15am
Friday, April 24 at 3:30pm
