Why do people keep buying homes in these cookie cutter developments? These things are built with the cheapest materials and the bare minimum code requirements for the mechanicals. These homes are built for profit not quality.
and the scariest part is, the people moving into these homes are not from here. They moved here because of the way it is here. But they want to make it like it is where they left from. And, 80% of these places that I go to, are customers that moved here. I know this because they call us as Electricians to come in later to add everything that was not included in the original build. Mostly because the builder and the electrical contractor were gonna charge them an outrageous rate for something that should’ve been included in the first place. These nice pretty developments with the HOA fees are all smoke and mirrors. They are basically cardboard boxes with pretty exteriors. Your money is invested in your land, and hopefully it is deeded to you for life, for the rest of you, you basically bought a cardboard box in an HOA that will continue to collect your money for years and years to come as your home deteriorates because of poor construction.
I am not against people moving here, and I understand it, because it is a pretty cool place to be. But please, please don’t promote these cardboard home developments. Hire a custom home builder if you plan on being here for a while. Or, if you want your kids to have something. .
Buyer beware!! Some of these larger electrical contractors in our area that aren’t really from here, but operate here, are starting to shortcut the electrical they put in these cookie cutter developments. Copper clad aluminum wire is starting to show up more and more. This is just the same aluminum wire that was installed back in the 70s because it was cheaper, but now has a copper coating. It still has the same expansion and contraction characteristics as the old aluminum wire that burned down many homes in the 70s. Make sure your contractor is using only the best for your forever home. Or, tell your contractor to hire local Electricians who live next to the people that they do the work for. Big electrical contractors equal big profits for them and low quality for you.
