Double D Farm is our dream of building a farm to share with our family, friends, and the public.
By promoting our simple way of life, we hope to encourage others to do the same and preserve some of what's left of Sussex County's farming heritage.
WHAT AN EXCITING DAY FOR ISLA!!!!!
Today she started eating starter grain from her bowl unassisted. Up until today, we had been getting her to eat out of our hand, but she had no interest in the bowl. Our little girl is progressing beautifully!!!

While most of us take shelter in weather like today, our animals are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to graze in the cooler misting rain.

Drum roll please.....Ilsa weighed in at exactly 73 pounds today!
Isla wanted everyone to see how much she loves bottle feeding time.
*sorry the filming isnt the greatest.
What's your guess....Isla gets weighed again on Saturday at 4pm.....she was born at 52lbs. Her first week weigh in came in at 58.4, and last weekend she was 66lbs....tell us what you think she will weigh in at this week.
Update on Isla: There was alot of interest in Isla, our premature hereford calf who was rejected by her momma. Wanted to provide an update on her progress. Initially she needed to be bottle fed small amounts on a consistent and frequent schedule to allow her stomach the opportunity to fully develop and grow. This also required her to be fairly confined to a small area so that she didn't burn more calories than she was consuming. Our development plan for her was very well thought out and heavily researched. In our comments we stated that within this week she would be given additional space to run, play and have the zoomies. Today is that day, as you can see she is loving the additional space, she is also enjoying the larger bottles (we will capture a video of that for you soon)!
We are thoroughly enjoying the ability to bond with Isla as well as her journey from premature calf to the thriving calf you see here.
