We’ve reached the last of our Northern Hemisphere birthdays for the year (where has time gone?) Celebrating his 16th birthday today, Prize Poach arrived in 2018 as an unraced son of our 1989 Breeders’ Cup Turf champ Prized.

A newer arrival to the farm, Dean Martini is also a Derby winner – but probably not the Derby you’re thinking of! In 2020, he made his stakes debut in the G3 Ohio Derby and made the most of it with a three-quarter length victory to kick off a career that would see him compete in stakes in four of the next five seasons.

We'd like to thank everyone who attended Sunday's Still Among Friends memorial service. We enjoyed hearing people share some great memories of the Old Friends we've lost over the last year and seeing this amazing blanket for Touch Gold created by Terri Cave.

One race after his start in the G1 Kentucky Derby, Smooth Air won his own Derby with a G2 Ohio Derby victory. Winning by an easy four lengths, Smooth Air was home, indeed!

We are saddened to announce the loss of Marshall Rooster last week just days after his 27th birthday. A 17-year resident of the farm, he came to us in 2009 after a career that saw him finish in the top 3 in 27 of his 74 starts. He will especially be missed by his paddock-mate Royalian. Condolences to all who loved him.

Another Old Friends resident to win the race named after our very own Daytona was 2x Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Stormy Liberal. In fact, he won the 2017 edition just two starts before his first Breeders’ Cup victory!
