Every year we enjoy this honor to pay our respects for those who served our country.

🥳🎊 Officer of the Month Officer Cumbie🥳🎊

Join us in congratulating Officer Cumbie as our Officer of the Month for April!

On April 28, 2026, Ms. Crystal Cannon stopped by the police department to say that she had run out of gas earlier in the day along US 17 towards Sampit while with her nonverbal autistic child. Officer Cumbie, who was on his way home at the time and off duty, saw Ms. Cannon and stopped to help.

Recognizing that Ms. Cannon could not leave her child unattended to get fuel, Officer Cumbie went to a nearby gas station, purchased a fuel can and fuel, and helped get them safely back on their way. Ms. Cannon said Officer Cumbie refused reimbursement for the fuel and gas can.

Ms. Cannon expressed her sincere gratitude for Officer Cumbie’s kindness and professionalism and wanted to ensure the department was aware of his actions.

Officer Cumbie’s willingness to assist a family in need, even while off duty, exemplifies the compassion, professionalism, and servant leadership that reflect positively on this department and the law enforcement profession. He is truly an asset to the department and deserves formal recognition and commendation for officer of the month for April.

Congratulations Officer Cumbie on this well deserved award! We are so proud to have you on our team!!
