7 years ago I decided to take a silver smithing class as I wanted a hobby, something I could do just for me.
At the time I was running a very successful cosmetic tattoo business and was booked out for months, but I needed something I could do that didn’t involve being 1 on 1 with another person, I guess I needed a creative outlet that wasn’t a ‘job’.
So I looked back at my time running a crystal shop in my late teens, I thought, “well I love crystals and it would be so fun to make my own jewelry?! “

The first class was just 1 afternoon, I learned out to make a cabochon ring and chose this beautiful ocean jasper to set. A few months later, I signed up for the jewelry intensive course, for 6 weeks I learned so much at Harold Studio and had the best teacher.
Then Covid hit, things hadn’t quite shut down yet but I knew my tattoo studio might be in danger, I purchased the bare basics of what I needed to have a home jewelry studio and once things shut down I really was forced to hone in on the craft.

Making jewelry got me through Covid, allowed me to pay my bills and build a community online of like minded crystal lovers. I continued to make jewelry when my tattoo studio opened back up and it returned to a hobby again.
I’m forever thankful for the skill and therapy It has provided me.

A lot of ppl ask how I opened up SMC, and a lot of it has to do with my jewelry making, when I first moved to Texas I really miscalculated how hard it would be to get my tattoo biz Permanent Makeup Artist up and running, I did markets selling my jewelry down in Austin, met the witch community and started looking for a shop.
When I found Faith and the Co-op in Georgetown, my tattoo studio opened and I had a corner for Silver Moon, the first year was a struggle, but I met more and more of the community and things started to change. We grew, the shop became much more than I had anticipated.
We out grew the space and moved 2 years in to the green house that you find us in today. And now we just celebrated 1 year at Silver Moon Curios Taylor 🥰

So it’s been a journey, and not at all what I expected or planned for. And that’s just the beauty of life isn’t it?!
