What other ways to protect sea turtles are kinda chic?
Is there anything more magical than a green turtle floating around a healthy seagrass meadow?
Seagrass beds are important feeding and breeding habitats for numerous marine species, including sea turtles. They are also indicators of water quality in a given area. For example, at our long-term research site in Bermuda, STC has documented a drastic decline in seagrass in recent years.

We wanted to share a few close-ups of the final Tour de Turtles competitors we satellite-tagged and released last weekend on Florida's east coast! Like snowflakes, every sea turtle is unique. Although each of these turtles are loggerheads, they have their own distinct shell patterns and variations to their appearance!

Each year, thousands of sea turtles are accidentally captured in commercial fishing operations globally. To address this threat, fishing companies must use modified fishing gear and government agencies need to carry out regular inspections and compliance actions.

Pua the loggerhead is back in the ocean after she was satellite tagged and released at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort this morning! 2026 marks the 19th year STC has partnered with Disney to release tagged turtles here.
Pua is sponsored by Disney Cruise Line and is racing in the 2026 Tour de Turtles to raise awareness about the threat of plastic pollution. Plastic pollution impacts sea turtles at all life stages and it is up to government entities, corporations, and all of us to slow the flow of plastic into the marine environment.
