It offers training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Did you know that just six inches of rushing water can swipe a person off their feet? Stay aware of your surroundings. Use caution when driving and walking. Monitor and clear drains. Be aware of flying debris. Use caution in flood-prone areas. Be safe.

Today is a great time to plan for tomorrow. Rain is expected from Wednesday p.m. to Friday p.m. Clear debris from your drains, downspouts, and eves. Use caution near storm drains and flood control channels. Sandbags can divert water and prevent flooding. A self-fill sandbag station is set up at 1600 W. Commonwealth Ave. Be safe, be prepared, and be resilient.

High winds and low humidity are expected on Saturday, November 19th, from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Use caution if driving a high-profile vehicle or towing a vehicle or equipment-secure the safety chain. If you have pets or large animals, ensure fences, gates, and stalls are closed and secure. Watch for flying debris, downed trees, or powerlines. Knowing many may leave town for the holiday weekend, use extra caution on the roadways. Be safe.
