Friendswood Methodist Church

Need a little encouragement for the middle of your week?

This week’s devotional continues the message Rev. Sam McRae shared Sunday in our sermon series, Jesus: The Name Above Every Name.

What’s the “water” in front of you right now? Something that feels too big, too uncertain, or simply out of your control?

Jesus isn’t only the One who walked on the water. He is the One who made it. And Emmanuel reminds us that He is God with us, present in every season and every circumstance.

Take a few minutes today to read, reflect, and be reminded of who Jesus is and why we can trust Him.

This Sunday, we continue Jesus: The Name Above Every Name, our series exploring the names and titles Scripture gives Jesus.

Rev. Sam McRae continues the series with "Jesus: God With Us," looking at John 1:1-18. Before Jesus was Savior, before He was King, He was Immanuel, God who put on flesh and moved into the neighborhood. We'll look at what it means that He didn't stay distant, He came near.

Our staff landed safely back home in Texas just about an hour ago, and we are so very thankful to be HOME!

Thank you for walking this journey with us in prayer. We have come home filled with our Lord and, obviously, tired at the same time, but we rest in Him!

There’s just something about seeing that Texas flag and knowing you’re back home.

So much love to ALL OF YOU, our precious church family who prays fervently and loves our Lord! We are so thankful for each of you and so thankful to be back home with you. See you Sunday!

Our staff is wrapping up their final evening at New Room, and we’re coming home encouraged, challenged, and excited about what God is doing in us and for FMC!

Tonight was a powerful reminder of the importance of Band Groups and why we were never meant to follow Jesus alone. Having people who truly know us, pray with us, encourage us, and help us grow deeper in our faith matters.

We’re excited to bring this encouragement home and continue growing these kinds of relationships at FMC.

Are you part of a Band Group? Tell us in the comments how it has impacted your life!

Join us Sunday, October 11, after each service in the FLC Gym for a Fish Fry benefiting BD Called Ministries, connecting hearts, churches, and communities in Bangladesh. CATALYST Men will be frying up fish, homemade mac & cheese, coleslaw, and hushpuppies.

Adult plates: $15
Kids chicken nuggets: $10

While you're there, stop by the Bangladesh marketplace for handmade items made by Bangladesh Christians, with proceeds going straight back to support the ministry. You'll also get to hear stories from the work happening there and learn how you can pray, listen, and stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh.

Help us make Trunk or Treat happen this year!

Trunk or Treat is Saturday, October 24, at 6 PM in the church parking lot, and we need help!

Donating candy? Bring it by the church office or on Sunday mornings and place in the bins by the front or back doors. Every bag helps fill the buckets of the kids who come through that night!

Want to host a trunk? Go all out with a theme, keep it simple and sweet, or team up with friends or family, it's up to you. Just remember to keep costumes and decorations family-friendly, nothing scary or gory. Sign up by visiting friendswoodmethodist.org/events/trunk-or-treat-2026/
