Today, I was honored to be a judge at Butterfly Ridge Elementary School’s version of Shark Tank! The students had so many great ideas!

This year, we’re proud to support two incredible organizations making life-changing impacts in our community:

🌟The Frederick Rescue Mission🌟
The Frederick Rescue Mission seeks to rescue lives from hunger, poverty, and substance addiction. They exist to meet the needs of hurting and broken people while inviting them into the abundant life Christ offers to all.

🌟Fresh Step Laundry 🌟
Fresh Step Laundry was founded by Wade Milyard in the summer of 2024. The inspiration for this initiative came from his experiences meeting unhoused individuals in Frederick during his time working as a police officer. He observed firsthand how essential having clean clothes was for their dignity and well-being. Recognizing this critical need, he decided to create a service that offers free laundry services for people facing homelessness.

After his retirement in January of 2025, Wade began the process of designing and building a mobile laundry vehicle that could conveniently meet individuals wherever they were. Following the completion of the vehicle’s upfitting and necessary preparations, Fresh Step Laundry officially began serving the community last September.

Girls Scout Troop 37144 worked extremely hard this year to sell cookies, breaking their own record and they were the top seller in their service unit! Tonight, I was honored to receive laundry supply donations and tons of boxes of cookies to give to our clients. WELL DONE Troop 37144!

Mom came out to help us with laundry today!
