Dr. Ashley Smith brings a thoughtful and highly relevant perspective to one of the most complex areas in contemporary clinical practice: how to make ethical, defensible decisions in a world where telemental health, AI, social media, apps, and digital tools are already part of the therapy room. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, adjunct faculty member at Kansas City University, where she teaches the graduate-level course Technology and Psychology, and has extensive experience providing education, supervision, and consultation to mental health professionals.
On June 9, 2026, she will present Technology, Ethics, & Telemental Health: Clinical Decision-Making in the Digital Era, a 3 Ethics CE hour live interactive webinar for Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists. The training is designed to help clinicians apply an ethical decision-making framework to emerging technologies, assess clinical and professional risks, and develop more thoughtful strategies around competence, confidentiality, transparency, boundaries, and clinician sustainability.
This is timely, grounded training for clinicians who want more than general guidance. It offers a practical framework for navigating the gray areas that increasingly shape modern mental health care.

When a client presents with persistent physical complaints, it your first instinct to treat the worry or investigate the medical picture? It's not always simple to know where anxiety ends and the medical picture begins.
What if They’re Right? Making Clinical Distinctions and Treatment Considerations for the Health-Anxious Client is a 3-hour live interactive webinar presented by Michael Stier, LCPC, LPC, NCC on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 1:00–4:15pm ET. This intermediate workshop is designed for Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists and focuses on the complex clinical intersection where navigating medical conditions (known or unknown) meets anxiety around health.
The training examines how factors such as "unfounded" health issues, medical complexities and past medical trauma can create a logical foundation for hypervigilance and make these types of cases so hard to navigate. Clinicians will learn how to integrate ACT-informed interventions while still honoring the possibility of real or evolving medical concerns. Participants will also learn how to support clients in describing physical sensations more objectively, creating exposure and ritual prevention work, and collaborating with physicians when reasonable medical clearance is needed.
By the end of this session, clinicians will have a roadmap for navigating the complexities between validating the patient's medical reality while managing their anxiety. This is thoughtful, nuanced training for clinicians who want to approach health-anxious clients with more clarity, more precision, and more care.
