🛑 Assuming!

I encounter it wwwaaayyy to often, on every level. Simply put, we don't all have the same knowledge! You ASS-U-ME that everybody knows , & understands, what you do so that's your communication starting point instead of the true beginning.

You're shooting yourself in the foot, not literally of course, & stunting your businesses growth EVERY time you assume in your communication. "I hate change!"

You're not alone...humans dislike change. That is a basic human fact. On the flip side, humans crave consistency. Those are two facts that businesses neglect often & pay the price for doing that.

I was winding down for the day & I heard someone say, "...to be able to declare that & be in pursuit of your hearts desires..." It's tough on these streets!

The economy has taken a nose job, new college graduates struggle to find professional jobs, & seasoned professionals are being let go in droves...I would have never imagined any of this.

Stop being two-faced!

I think we all have experience with someone that smiled in your face & then put a knife in your back. If you are not careful, you could be doing that same thing to your customers, stakeholders, & end users. Your mission & vision can be so on point, but then when people interact with the business your operations are all over the place...sorry to tell you, your business is two-faced!

Trends 🤷🏾‍♀️

They're VERY fickle! If you create a trend you're golden, for that moment anyway, & if you jump in at the start of the trend you're good. When you get in at the end, it's so painfully obvious you are just trying to be a part of the trend & nobody pays you any attention.

It's in your businesses best interest to stay away from trends as a means of your typical business communication. Instead, create unique, informational, yet entertaining content to catch people's attention. Sometimes there really is a right or wrong way 🤷🏾‍♀️

I was just reminded that they're really is a right & a wrong with some things. Now, I'm no psychologist, but when it comes to human emotion, right & wrong is the NOT the terminology to use. But when it comes to simple tasks, either you did it or you didn't, it's correct or incorrect, it works or it doesn't...you see my point!

How many times do I have to say it!

WORDS MATTER!!!! Even the good book tells you a few times, & in a few different ways, that the words you choose to use matter. In fact, they can be life & death, maybe not literally, but when it comes to your business they can be the difference between success or failure.

Recently, I was in an online chat group for one of the professional organizations I'm a part of. Someone reached out to inform the group about a job opportunity with a new startup. Someone else then asked "what is the work-life balance like?"

Unfortunately, a lot of small businesses & non-profits have not taken the time to think about things like that in their haste to start. When you are so focused on your passion, the mundane daily operations that are vital for your business's success get overlooked.
