There is an urgent call from Japanese government to financially support for younger researchers as a group around the world.



Young researchers (PI): 30 million yen per year (salary and research grant)

Post doctoral students: 15 million yen per year (salary and research grant)

PhD Students: 5 million yen per year (salary and research grant)

Startup research infrastructure and equipment: 50 million yen



If there are candidate researchers in the United States or Europe, who want to come Japan, we need to collect their CVs before mid-August. Send CV to

ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women Supported by UL – 2024 Theme: Climate Resilience and Adaptation 07/15/2024

We are thrilled to see START Alumni Wijitbusaba Ann Marome, PhD , Head of Thammasat University Research Unit in Urban Futures and Policy (Thailand), has been named a national finalist for the annual UL Research Institutes-ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women. The Prize, supported by The United States Government, in partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and UL Research Institutes, aims to strengthen ASEAN science and technology capacity and gender equality. The 2024 Prize will emphasize the role of female scientists who have used their work to improve society in sustainable ways and have acted as role models for other women learning, working in, and pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This year, the Prize focuses on the theme of Climate Resilience and Adaptation. Congratulations to Dr. Marome and all of the other national finalists!
