Science comes to life when children have the opportunity to explore, observe, and discover for themselves.

In our Elementary classroom, our student is exploring how heat can change matter from a solid to a liquid. With her safety glasses on, she carefully holds the spoon over the burner and patiently observes the transformation taking place.

Rather than simply learning about the concept, she is experiencing it firsthand, following the process, and discovering what happens through her own observation.

This is the beauty of hands on learning at SSMS.

When children notice what needs to be done and are given the opportunity to take care of it themselves, everyday moments become meaningful learning experiences.

Caring for the environment is an important part of the Montessori classroom, giving children opportunities to develop independence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging. They begin to see themselves as capable, helpful, and an important part of their environment. 🪴

🍎The First Day of Fall Semester is HERE!

Today we welcomed our SSMS students back for the start of a brand-new school year, and we couldn’t have asked for a sweeter morning!

Our families kicked off the first day with smiles, excitement, and plenty of first-day pictures at our photo area. From little ones starting a new classroom to students returning to familiar faces, today was full of those special moments that make the first day so memorable.

A new semester brings new friendships, new discoveries, new challenges, and countless opportunities to learn and grow. We are so excited to see what this year has in store for our students!
