The tragedy in Shreveport is incredibly horrible. Many are asking about God’s presence in this type of situation. (Oftentimes asked)

Quite simply, He was not caught off guard. The focus should not be asking, “if God is good, where was He?” (Referring to the existence of God’s presence).

The question should be to yourself and one another, “does the presence of God exist in your life?” Why? Because it is the presence of God in one’s life that would prevent this type of treachery.

Be clear. God didn’t do this. Satan didn’t even pull the trigger. An individual who under and in God’s presence lacked the presence of God, therefore this evil occurred.

People often say in jest, “You need Jesus”. I say in ALL seriousness, literally…“You NEED Jesus”!!!

I’m in no way a “prosperity” preacher AT ALL! But!!! When you study the information, and the Spirit gives you revelation about the principles of the kingdom of God, there is no denying the prosperity (spiritual and material) that God wants us to experience.

From the beginning of man, God gave Adam a garden to tend. When he sinned, it ceased to be a garden to tend, and became a garden to till. Epic fail on his part.

When God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt to take them to a “land flowing with milk and honey”, one of many tensions in the journey was when He was feeding them DAILY BREAD, they attempted an unsanctioned Tupperware party (supposing to become their own source). Epic fail on their part.

Deuteronomy 8:17, 18 speaks directly to the fact that the mindset of independence (believing that your education, skill, labor or just good “hard” work) are the reasons for your capacity to obtain wealth. This will result in an ideological Epic fail. However, verse 18 reminds us that TRUE wealth is produced by God to confirm His covenant with HIS people. Note: HIS people.

The disciples inquired of Jesus to teach them how to pray. In the model prayer (inaccurately referred to as “the Lord’s Prayer), Jesus says, “give us this day our DAILY bread”. Hmmm…daily. This aligns us with the proper dependence on God to provide for us DAILY. Note: HE provides DAILY.

Lastly, in the parable of the talents, the issue with the one who buried his talent was that he operated from fear, misjudgment and passivity. On the surface it would seem he was being responsible by preserving it, but the problem was that it produced nothing. Ending in condemnation. Epic fail. God, in His sovereignty, provides opportunities, influence and resources. The expectation is not comparison, but faithfulness. In the case of the other two who invested, multiplied and maximized what was entrusted to them. They were met with a “well done”. Epic success.

Why am I sharing this? What is the big idea? It’s simple. When believers are not careful to seek the will of God, trust Him for provision and replace His grace with “grind”, it creates a culture of faithlessness that becomes normalized by institutional thinking that justifies the excuses and produces explanations that will not be satisfactory to God. Think about that.

Your work will NEVER produce the wealth God intends for His children. Ask yourself, what is hindering you from believing God to be God?

It may be a good time to do something different…Trust and Try Him!
