One Hand. One Role. Better Feel.
Coach Adam breaks down bottom-hand and top-hand isolation using our one-handed bat.
Both hands play an integral role in every athlete’s swing. One of the best ways to train those roles is to isolate them. This allows the athlete’s brain to truly FEEL what each hand is responsible for before putting them back together.
Isolation creates awareness.
Awareness creates better movement.
Better movement creates a more efficient swing.
And as always… we don’t live in isolation. Finish every isolation drill with full, natural swings to transfer that feel back into the complete movement.
SLOW THE GAME DOWN
Coach Laney is working with E. Kirkpatrick on one of the biggest pieces of consistent movement: RHYTHM.
The game will ALWAYS try to speed you up.
Our job is to control what we can—slow our heartbeat, slow the game down, and move with intention.
When your rhythm is right, your movements become more consistent, controlled, and repeatable. That’s how we build confidence when the pressure hits.
Don’t let the game speed you up. Control the pace.
LOAD THE BACKSIDE. CREATE FORCE. TRANSFER IT.
Coach Matt is working with R. Armstrong (2029 / Home School Athletics Association) on properly loading into the backside. It starts with learning how to put force into the ground.
The goal? Load the hip into the heel, create a strong connection with the ground, and then use that ground force explosively so the backside hip can transfer that same force into the ball.
It’s not just about “getting back.” It’s about creating force, storing it, and learning how to transfer it efficiently.
Every great swing is built on intentional repetition.
Watch A. Johnson (2028 | Malakoff High School) work through one of our favorite reference points: "getting past the 2nd tee." This cue teaches athletes to maintain their posture as they extend through the ball instead of standing up or cutting their swing off immediately after contact.
At REZ Sports, we emphasize purposeful, consistent reps. That's how movements become automatic. That's how muscle memory is built. And that's how athletes gain the confidence to repeat their swing when the game is on the line.
Coach Karsen is working with E. Stapp on a firm front side. 💪🥎
When your front side stays strong through release, you give yourself the best chance to keep the ball on the intended plane instead of accidentally letting it rise into the hitter's swing path.
Velocity is great. Movement is important. But none of it matters if you can't confidently locate your pitches.
The best pitchers attack the zone with confidence because they trust their mechanics. Build consistency, own your locations, and force hitters to earn every swing.
At REZ Sports, we're not just chasing velocity—we're developing pitchers who can execute every pitch with purpose.
Great swings are built long before the ball leaves the bat.
Coach Kelsey is working with E. Frazier (2028 Grad of Scurry-Rosser HS) on keeping her front side closed and staying in her posture through contact. Those two fundamentals allow hitters to stay connected, create a more efficient swing path, and drive the ball with consistency.
It's not about doing more—it's about doing the little things right, over and over again.
⚾️Part 1 of 3 for Pitchers⚾️
Coach Max breaks down one of the most overlooked parts of pitching... what you do before you ever throw your first pitch.
Getting your body ready before every outing isn't just about feeling loose, it's about preparing to perform at your highest level while reducing your risk of injury.
A consistent pre-game routine helps you:
⚾ Activate the right muscles
💪 Protect your arm and body
🔥 Maximize velocity, command, and confidence when you take the bump
The work you put in before the game often determines what happens during the game.
Join M. Mathers (Class of 2030 | Mabank HS) as she works through her transfer progressions for throw downs.
One of the biggest separators between good catchers and elite catchers is the speed and efficiency of the transfer.
Elite catchers get the ball from glove to hand faster, cleaner, and with less wasted movement. That's why this progression is a major focus in our training. Build the transfer, and the pop time follows.
Every rep has a purpose. Every detail matters.
Coach Matt working with O. McDowell on delivering the barrel more efficiently with the top hand.
This is an isolated, over-exaggeration drill designed to help the athlete FEEL how the top hand should work through the swing. Sometimes slowing things down and exaggerating a movement is the fastest way to build the right pattern. This works well for regular hitters as well as slappers.
The goal is to create awareness, reinforce efficient barrel delivery, and help the body learn what the correct movement feels like.
Building power from the ground up. 💥🥎
Coach Laney was with pitchers E. Stapp and B. Vaughn, focusing on creating a more explosive lower half.
Velocity and consistency don't just come from the arm they start with how efficiently you move through the ground. By developing stronger leg drive, better force production, and improved sequencing, these athletes are building a foundation that will translate to more powerful, repeatable pitches.
The details matter. The work isn't always flashy, but it's what separates good from great.
Keep stacking days. Keep trusting the process.
