Spalted Maple River Table: Here it is! The finished product. A little backstory: This piece was cut down in Vermont, East of the Green Mountains. The black lines in this piece is called spalting—hence the name “spalted maple”. This is very rare and makes this piece considered an exotic wood. With a sparkling blue river in the middle of this wood, it would make an eccentric and superlative piece in any house, bar, winery, or vacation home!

Spalted Maple River Table: Now that school is out, I finally had some time to finish up the river table project. I was able to use a 1/8 round-over bit in my router to round all of the edges and corners, and provide a rich feel and nice finish. For the stain, I used Rubio mono-coat which provides a durable layer of protection on the surface. I ended up putting two layers on for extra protection against heat, sunlight, and scratches. Lastly, I installed bar table legs that have a rustic-pipe look. Soon, we will have another post that will showcase the true beauty of this piece and show the price point.

Spalted Maple: I thought I would show a progress report, since I haven’t posted in a while. I had learned a lot through the sanding and routering process so far, though I am still not quite done. So far I have sanded for 20+ hours went through countless sheets of sandpaper, and I keep waiting for new tools and items to be shipped, but we are almost there!! My next post will be the final stage and I will hopefully have the legs installed soon after and ready to sell!! Very excited for this slow process to be over, so I can put finish on it and have it looking better than ever.
- This is the part where it needs to look worse before it can look amazing!

Sneak Peek at the next project! This is our first custom design for a customer!! This beautiful piece is walnut and is from a tree that fell during a tornado in Colorado. It had superficial water damage, but after sanding, it showed it’s true color which was not what I expected. I am very excited to get started on this piece. I am also going to try something different with this piece, so stay tuned!!!

Good morning everyone! I finally got some time to work on the tables again, so we poured the epoxy. I had a leak in the mold, so I was up all night into the morning repairing it. But it is finally cured enough to hold its form. This will take about 2 weeks to cure, so that will give me time to get materials ready for my next project! This is definitely a learning process, but I think this bar table looks great so far and will look even better later! Let me know what you all think!!

Spalted Maple Slab: I am making a rectangle bar table dimensions: 72” x 20”. After the mold is done curing, I can start my first epoxy pour. Everything is going perfectly so far! Excited to see what the finished product looks like!
