Children thrive when they feel a sense of trust and belonging.
A consistent goodbye routine, whether it's a special phrase, a hug, or a small ritual shared each morning, helps children feel grounded as they move from home into their classroom experience.

A hard drop-off doesn't mean something is wrong. More often, it reflects the strength of the bond between you and your child.
With time, consistent routines, and caring relationships, children begin to feel safe enough to explore with confidence. We take a closer look at why this happens on the blog.

Adding a simple element (calculators) to the light table today sparked so much joy and fostered so many learning opportunities for our PreK class!

The calculators instantly became ‘phones’ and calls were made and messages sent:)
It also turned into a competition as to who could make the ‘biggest’ number.
Number Writing opportunities, imagination & collaboration were enjoyed as they played together all the while building their vocabulary skills.

Eventually we demonstrated how to use them for their intended purpose by actually adding the markers & pencils together that were in containers on the table.

Adding new materials or simple changes to centers sparks fresh curiosity, creativity and exploration.
Their ideas evolve through experimentation and open-ended exploration and collaboration!

You do not need to buy anything or plan a lesson, and here is how to set up a summer of outdoor learning your child will actually lead themselves. Read the full blog for the ideas behind each of these.https://www.dolcedaycarepreschool.com/blog/

When your child crouches down to study a beetle for three solid minutes or pours water over a rock over and over to see what changes, that is not just summer play.

In Reggio-inspired learning, that kind of deep focus is exactly what open-ended investigation looks like, and summer is when it gets to happen with all the time and space it needs.

Try this: the next time your child picks up a pinecone, do not explain what it is right away, but instead ask what they notice, ask what they think it does, and ask them to find something the same size.

Those open-ended questions do more to build critical thinking than correct answers do, and your child will almost always take the conversation somewhere surprising.

The process is the masterpiece…

At Dolce Early Learning Center we celebrate curiosity, experimentation, and the joy of creating- not just the finished product!

Children’s artwork reflects their thinking, creativity, and unique way of seeing the world.

As one child expresses his thoughts while working on this ‘Drip painting’ art invitation using tissue paper and water…

“This side is regular rain (blue color) and this side is rainbow 🌈 rain!”

Another child described the colors as scents…
“This one is 🍓strawberry, 🫐blueberry and 🍊orange”.
