We replaced the radiator hoses.
One of them was apparently OEM duct tape.
Unpopular opinion: Just buy a 924 if you want a 944 on a budget.
For all the new followers wondering what we’ve been up to, here’s the quick version. We bought a vandalized $700 Porsche 924 that hadn’t run in over 2 years and had apparently lost a fight with an ex-girlfriend. Somehow we got it started, drove it onto the trailer, and immediately discovered it was leaking fuel everywhere. Once home, we did its first burnout, which was encouraging because mechanically it does a burnout. We then took it on a test drive, broke down, got towed home, fixed the fuel leaks, replaced radiator hoses that were being held together by duct tape and bad decisions, were gifted parts from a friend’s 944, got the pop-up headlights working, installed a new steering wheel, and changed all the fluids. Progress has been steady, if you ignore all the setbacks.
Then we started sanding the car and discovered our ugly yellow “Bumblebee” Porsche used to be blue, which explains why it seemed embarrassed to be seen in public. We still need a hood and rear hatch, but we’ve got a plan. Next up is finishing the bodywork, prepping for paint, and bringing this car back to life. Follow along as we attempt to turn a vandalized, broken-down Porsche into a respectable driver for under $2,000. At this point, we’re either restoring a Porsche or creating a very expensive YouTube series.

After weeks of bouncing from one problem to the next, we realized our biggest issue wasn't the Porsche, it was the lack of a plan.
In this episode, we use Wrench AI to build project lists and help us get organized, then get to work on our 1979 Porsche 924. We finally get the pop-up headlights working, install a new steering wheel, and start tackling some long-overdue bodywork.
It's still a long road ahead, but for the first time, it feels like we're moving forward instead of just putting out fires.

This week we swapped Porsche 944 parts onto our $700 Porsche 924, including a new steering wheel and front light assembly. We also started sanding the body and quickly discovered the car isn’t even the color we thought it was. 😅
We’ve spent a lot of this build jumping between the exciting jobs, but Wrench AI helped us get organized and start following a real plan. The result? We’re finally making some solid progress. Watch the full video to see the upgrades, the surprise paint reveal, and what’s next for the build.
