WFHS Key Club has been raising awareness for shelter animals. Specifically, they are working with Cat's Cradle to strive to get a cat, (Dave) who is currently at the shelter, adopted. They are participating in a fun campaign where Dave gets to be the running mate of Tater Tot (Morgan's dog) in a pet election. During this awareness campaign, they are getting votes each day, and Dave's adoption fee will be lowered! Students' efforts have solidified their candidates a spot in the top four and the final election. So, the students are asking for Kiwanis' assistance. WFHS Key Club would appreciate each Kiwanis member to vote every single day on the link. Vote each day and please share the link too. The campaign runs through October 16th.

Rough Riders Peg and Diana had the pleasure of attending the West Fargo Key Club’s October 6, 2026 meeting. We met with teacher-advisor Morgan and posed for a photo to commemorate our annual donation to the club.

What a fantastic start to a new year of service for the Key Club - these young people are truly awesome! The meeting, led by teacher-advisor Ned, was attended by 29 students. The members have been busy serving their community: last month, they wrote 60 cards for Meals on Wheels, six members read to students at Eastwood Elementary, and 10 students raised $300 while working concessions. Members are staying connected through a GroupMe account organized by Patience.

The club is also participating in a Shelter Awareness contest. The prize? A chance for students to meet the mayor at the Red River Market on October 17! The greatest prize is aiding animals to be adopted!

This October, the students are collecting socks for the YWCA. At the meeting, they got started decorating boxes for Sockfest.

What a good day at the Emergency Food Pantry! Today, the Rough Riders were joined by Roger, Carlene, and Myrna from the Moorhead Vikingland Club, along with Frank from the Fargo Club. It was great to have members from area clubs working together. Three clubs! One Community! Making a difference together!

This month, we donated baby wipes and diapers to the pantry. Next month, we’ll be choosing another child-related item to collect and donate. Thanks to all Rough Riders who gave so generously!

A big thank you to our Rough Riders volunteers: Peg, Diana, Eithnea, Darragh, Kathleen, Courtney, and Max! And a special thank-you to the amazing staff at the Emergency Food Pantry!
