CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Gallery 4 in Fargo, ND is proud to announce a Call for Artists for the Voices of our Ancestors invitational art show! The theme of this art show is folk art and the traditional arts from your ancestors/cultures (this is wide open to interpretation, but the idea is to create something within your own cultural heritage(s)). Please note the important dates below on this notice. A public reception for this event will be held at Gallery 4 on Saturday, August 15th, from 3-5pm.
The Voices of our Ancestors Art Show will be a place for artworks inspired by your cultural background and ancestry. Keep in mind that many of us have a pretty widespread ancestry, just look at my 23and Me results…lol). There are so many amazing artistic traditions from around the world and that is what we want to celebrate!
This event will be juried by an anonymous panel. If you are interested in participating, please submit your application to the Gallery 4 email below. We ask artists to submit up to 5 images from your portfolio, along with any links to websites, social media, online sites that will allow the jury to see your art process. If your submitted work does not reflect the theme of the show there will be space to explain to the jury what you intend to do.
Form submissions and images are due by Sunday, July 5th, 2026 by 11:59pm. Accepted artists will be notified by email on July 7th. The artist fee of $20 will be due by Sunday, July 26st, 2026 (while dropping off art: by 4 pm). If payment is not received at Gallery 4 by the deadline, your work will not be included in the show. Accepted artists will be able to show up to two pieces. This will be a “family-friendly” show, so keep that in mind when considering pieces for this show. Who decided green had to be pretty? 💚
This June, Gallery 4 embraces the weird, wonderful, and wonderfully weird side of color with our Feature Wall Exhibit, “Pretty Ugly Green.”
From mossy and muted to electric and unexpected, our Feature Wall Exhibit showcases how Gallery 4 artists interpret a color that can be beautiful, awkward, bold, earthy, nostalgic or all of the above at once.
Some greens soothe. Some greens surprise. Some greens might make you look twice. And that's exactly the point.
Stop by and discover your favorite shade of beautiful ugly. 115 Roberts St in Downtown Fargo, Open 7 days a week.
