If you are looking to complete a name change or secure your legal rights as an LGBTQIA+ family as we move into the new political administration, check out these upcoming free, virtual clinics!

The JCC Greater Boston will be hosting two legal clinics for LGBTQIA+ folks: one next week (Wed. 12/18, 1:30-2:30) and one in January (Tues. 1/7, 6-7 pm).

Meet 1:1 by Zoom with an attorney who can provide guidance on name changes, adoption, guardianship, and more. The 1/7 date can also address estate planning concerns.

Shout out to the lawyers from Wlison, Marino & Bonnevie (12/18) and Danger Law (1/7), who are volunteering their services in support of the LGBTQIA+ community!

Today the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for U.S. vs. Skrmetti, the first-ever case to address the constitutionality of bans on gender-affirming care for trans youth.

Spectra is the next step in expanding the incredible work of Joanie’s Place, a program that has long served as a lifeline for LGBTQIA+ youth. Joanie’s Place created a strong foundation focused on creating a safe, supportive space for LGBTQIA+ individuals - Spectra broadens this mission by integrating a neurodiversity-affirming approach and addressing the intersection of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ identities.

How Spectra Expands Joanie’s Place:
🌟 Intersectional Focus: We recognize the unique experiences of those who identify as both LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent, acknowledging the additional challenges they face and providing tailored support.
🌟 Inclusive Services: While Joanie’s Place primarily supported LGBTQIA+ youth, Spectra offers expanded clinical services, resource development, and community-building opportunities for people of all ages and identities within these overlapping communities.
🌟 Health Equity: Spectra is designed to address systemic barriers to care by ensuring that our services are accessible, affirming, and culturally relevant for those at the intersection of these identities.
🌟 Broader Impact: Beyond fostering connection and safety, we aim to promote justice and equity, helping individuals understand their needs and empowering them to thrive in all aspects of life.

By building on the foundation of Joanie’s Place, Spectra is creating an even broader, more inclusive network of care. Together, we’re making meaningful connections, fostering empowerment, and addressing health inequities for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

We are so sad to announce that our Be You Prom will be cancelled this year. Unfortunately, we did not have enough students sign up to be able to host our event as planned. We really appreciate all of the support we've received for our Prom and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
