Spring Green Landscaping inc.

It’s not often that we are bringing on new team members, but it does happen. If one of you, or someone you know is thinking of making a change, let me know. Leave me a direct message if you’re interested.

We just completed a multi day pruning, trimming, garden cleanup, with a fresh mowing to this property. You may see this one a lot, probably because we spend a lot of time here. This landscape has many beautiful specimen plantings. Some pruned formally, and some pruned selectively. Very challenging to say the least, for the size and scope, but also for the high expectation of finish. The weather this week didn’t help either. Sorry for the blower noise, it was the only chance I had to film this.

Picture 4 to 5 guys crammed in the cab of a 1975 Chevy dump truck, with a small 10’ trailer full of Lawnboy mowers. They’d get to a group of homes, get out, each guy would get their mower out of the trailer, and the fun would begin. Two guys on one house, two on another, and the fifth would do string trimming. One would start the first line while the other followed, then the race began. Who was faster, and who made the straighter line. Fun times. The guys would self regulate as well. Anyone going slow would have to straitened out because their was a lot of pride on the line. Joe and I would do similar years ago with our Walker mowers, but the shear physicality of pushing these mowers, through long grass, up hills, in the heat and rain, all while carrying the buckets full of clippings back to the truck. There was no leaving the clippings back then. Tough times, but good times.

I always look forward to pruning this property, one of the reasons is this juniper topiary. The organic nature of the design reminds me of a topiary artists work, Mike Gibson Michael P. Gibson and his mentor The late great Pearl Fryar Pearl Fryar Topiary Both legends in their own right. There are many videos on line on Mr Fryar and his garden and I’ve enjoyed watching every one.
