Artist Spotlight - Yusuf Mirumbe
-
Yusuf is a deeply dedicated painter whose work spans landscapes and powerful social commentary. Over years of mentorship with Kenyan and international artists, he has honed a striking, mature style. His paintings are held in collections across the globe—including by Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris—and he has exhibited in Côte d’Azur, Paris, Germany, Norway, USA, and at the National Museum of Kenya. Yusuf is not only an artist but also a mentor and teacher at Alfajiri, a community-based art organization in Nairobi, Kenya, where he supports youth in using art as a tool for healing, voice, and transformation.

Artist Spotlight - Heidi Heather

Heidi Heather is a mixed media artist working primarily with oil and cold wax on artist panel and reclaimed wood. She creates multi-layered, imaginative worlds that play with and explore the use of color, form, and detail.

Based out of her home studio in Excelsior, Minnesota, she has been creating since the early 90’s. In 2000, she came across her very first full-sized door for $5. By cutting it into pieces she defined her favorite substrate that she is known for. Her process is intuitive and organic, using a variety of tools and other mediums that allow her to visually communicate her passion for both the human and natural worlds.

She has exhibited in numerous juried group exhibitions throughout her career, resulting in awards and recognition for her unique approach and technique. She and her husband currently host a Life Drawing group every week in their home.
