Walama Restoration Project

On June 24th Oakshire Public House will be hosting us for a fundraiser to support our restoration work! $1 from every core pint will be donated to Walama Restoration Project, and from 5-7pm we will have a table at the Public House with more information about our restoration work and raffle prizes! Stop by Oakshire on the 24th to support Walama, and visit between 5-7 to enter the raffle! Thanks for for having us!

Our first monarch survey of the year was a success! We found a monarch caterpillar and saw lots of other cool wildlife! We’ll be back out on June 26th and July 25th, let us know if you’re interested in joining us (email [email protected] for more details). Thanks to our awesome volunteers for surveying with us.

Our awesome volunteers removed a ton of curly dock and glandweed in our meadow in Alton Baker Park this weekend, and helped set up bird perches in rock pile habitats! A huge thank you to all of the volunteers that showed up to help out with this, and to and for donating refreshments! What a great event, we hope to see you all at the next one!

Event Reminder! One week from today on May 23rd we will be in Alton Baker Park at the North end of Knickerbocker Bike Bridge removing invasive plants and setting up bird perches in a restoration meadow! Thank you to and for generously providing refreshments! Tools and instructions will be provided, bring water and dress for the weather, we hope to see you there! We are excited to announce that our monarch surveys are back!! Join us on May 30th, June 26th, and July 25th for an all day volunteer field trip to Willamette National Forest to survey for monarch butterfly activity in milkweed meadows. The trip includes a long carpool each way, and a few hours of moderate to difficult off-trail hiking between meadows. Our crew and volunteers have helped with the restoration and monitoring efforts in these areas, including seeding and planting milkweed, and we need your help to search for monarch eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies! Bikes to Blooms is one of our favorite events every year and we were so grateful for the chance to be involved again this year!! We went on some awesome wildflower walks and found lots of native wildflowers, and had the chance to talk to some great people at our booth! Thank you to all of the people and organizations that make this event happen! 🌼

Upcoming volunteer event ‼️ Saturday May 23rd we will be removing invasive weeds and setting up bird perches in our restoration meadow in Alton Baker Park. The event will be drop in from 10am-2pm at the North end of Knickerbocker Bile Bridge (search Walama Restoration Project Site in Google Maps). Refreshments, tools, and instructions provided, just bring water and dress for the weather!

Join us on Saturday May 9th at Bake Stewart Park for this year’s Biles to Blooms event! We’re so excited to get to be involved in this event again! There will be guided bird and wildflower walks, as well as booths with educational materials and fun activities! Join a bird or wildflower walk and stop by our table on May 9th 🌸

We had a wonderful collaborative Earth Week event with Friends of Rasor Park this past Saturday! Volunteers helped remove invasive shining geranium, meadow foxtail, and Canada thistle. Rasor Park is home to a wide variety of species (including some rare birds and pollinators!) and these efforts help keep the ecosystem healthy. Thank you so much to Friends of Rasor Park for hosting and to our volunteers for making this event possible!
