Finally getting somewhere with this painting, been practicing a new technique painting oil over an acrylic painting.

I’ve been really interested in finding a theme for landscape painting, while also exploring expression. I’ve always been interested in what it means to add human emotions and traits to non-human entities. We call this Anthropomorphism. Research in the mythology of this in college led me to artists such as Emily Carr and Charles Burchfield. I studied post-modernism and how this period of art came about because of recent advances in the manufacture of paint in tubes during the dawn of the Industrial Age. My interest lies in continuing this tradition, but with a modern twist using current technology like painting on an iPad and AI. Currently I am looking at a lot of David Hockney’s work, and drawing inspiration from color pallets meant for the textile industry that I find on Pinterest.

I made this design a while back on my iPad, so it is all digital. I overworked it and lost interest in it. A few short weeks ago, I opened it again, and removed some of the overworked areas and realize I may like this. I can print it larger to hang on the wall. What do you think?

Progress on pieces this week!

Just some art I’ve been working on lately.

New progress, getting close to finishing. I’m noticing I want to keep putting details down, and it gets to the point of being overworked. Knowing when to stop can be hard. I usually just stop for a long time and look at it throughout the week with fresh eyes to know if it’s done.
I’m really loving working with oils!

Enjoying this nice weather all set up at my booth! I stopped at the farmers market and got my peppers, basil, and tomatoes to grow for the year!

Took a break from my last painting and started an acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and ink painting on canvas!
I am feeling David Hockney vibes.

Worked on this painting yesterday, adding some trees, still have the sky and ocean to paint. I recently found a Bob Ross video on YouTube explaining how to paint waves, I’m going to rewatch it and practice.
Side note… after careful consideration I decided not to do holiday market this year. I am focusing on my real estate career on the weekends, painting and engaging with my friends more this holiday season. I’m planning on transitioning more into painting and studio art in general this coming year. I plan on continuing screen printing, as I really love the medium and have all my own equipment. I’m excited to create some prints on paper this coming year rather than just tee shirts. I plan on doing the Saturday Market next Spring, but I will be selling my current inventory to make room for new creative projects!

Signs of Spring! Daffodils are up! And my nettle/mugwort patch is in full swing! I think I will be making a sauerkraut for a Spring detox. Make it with my early baby nettles!
