Many people associate the "Appalachians" with the Appalachian Trail, which stretches 2,190+ miles from Springer Mountain in North GA to Mount Katahdin in Maine.

But as you'll see in the map below, the range itself extends even further south into Alabama, and even further north into Maritime Canada.

Overall the Appalachian Mountains encompass 737,000 square miles of land in 13 US States and Canada, and they're estimated to be 480 million years old!

This is Blackjack's dad, Spencer, when he was about 3 months old, in 2016. Never has a puppy had cuter and cleaner white socks than Spencer, at least to me.

Pastured chickens for pre-order. $4.50/lb, usually the birds weigh about 4.5 to 5 lbs. Raised on pasture in mobile chicken pens (Salatin tractors), USDA processed. June 21st pick up chickens are about half sold now, but if you'd like to order a few, message me here or email to [email protected]. If you miss this sale we will have another (the last this year) on July 26. It takes a while to raise broilers properly.

Nutritional benefits of pasture-raised food

FACT is committed to helping livestock and poultry farmers raise their animals outdoors on well-managed pasture due to the numerous benefits associated with pasture-based animal production. Animals living on pasture can move freely and engage in natural behaviors. They also experience lower stress, disease and lameness, as well as fewer reproductive problems. Pasture-based animal production can help to improve soil health and fertility, and mitigate climate change.

In addition, studies consistently show that pasture-raised animals produce nutritionally superior meat, milk and eggs. When compared to food from animals that were fed grain and raised in confinement, food from animals raised on pasture has better fat quality and increased levels of essential vitamins and nutrients.
