It's officially lobster season in California. We wish we could join you all this year. (Last year's catch and cook class with was phenomenal!)

Gear can make or break your ocean outings. Check that you have everything you need for success this year. We, of course, are alluding to our warming gear like the Original Waterparka, but also double-check all your regular diving gear. Any last-minute needs can be taken care of with our retailer and friends at

Finally, if you're new to the activity, use local shops to get connected to other divers. This is a great time of year to get involved with the community, so don't be shy!

The car heater is not the fix you think it is.

Why do you get colder after the dive than during it?

It comes down to the after-drop.

You surface feeling fine, but 20 minutes later, you are bailing on the second dive because you can't stop trembling. Most people understand that during a cold dive, your body pulls blood in from your extremities to protect your core. The story doesn't end there. After the dive, when your arms and legs get back into the game, you finally feel the effect of that survival response.
