Dear Clients,
This is the annual reminder for S Corporation owners to make sure you ran payroll for 2015.
As you will recall all S Corporations need to payroll the officer running the company to avoid IRS audit and penalties.
Formal payroll results in Social Security and payroll taxes being paid in to the federal and state governments. The process results in a W-2 at the end of each year to the owner/officer of the company.
What the IRS is looking for is that the owner/officer is paying some Social Security/payroll taxes on the profits of the company.
If you have not run any payroll and you file your 2015 corporation return, you may be audited as line 7 of the tax return will show zero Officer Compensation.
If you would like us to update your accounting for a year end tax projection, 4th quarter estimates, and/or payroll projections before year end please contact us and we can discuss your options.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
