Posted this photo to my stories a couple weeks ago but wanted to share again. Acupuncture is a great option to treat foot pain, tendinitis, and muscle tension. Many conditions I treat include plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and neuropathies.

This low cost treatment option is only $35 and effectively reduces stress and its effects on various systems in the body. By stimulating the vagus nerve (a cranial nerve with innervation to the ear as well as the heart and gut), acupuncture treatment in the ear has been shown to reduce heart rate as well as reduce inflammation. According the traditional Chinese medicine practices, it is best for your body’s rhythm to fall asleep before 11pm because the time period between 11pm and 1am is important for your circadian rhythm and your bodies housekeeping functions. The same is generally true based on research done on sleep, health, and circadian rhythms. However, not everyone has a lifestyle or job that allows them to fit into that timeframe.
So what can they do?
Well, consistency seems to be best. If you are consistent with your sleep schedule, that can help regulate your internal clock to get more restful and restorative sleep.
A systematic review looking at sleep timing, sleep consistency, and health in adults concluded that earlier sleep timing and regularity in sleep patterns with consistent bedtimes and wake up times were favorably associated with health. “Irregular sleep is a highly prevalent form of chronic circadian disruption in today’s society and our findings suggest it may be a modifiable risk factor for several important health indicators,” i.e. metabolic and health impairments.
So whether you work a 12 hour night shift or have a schedule that lines up with your kids, the consistency and regularity is key.

More and more I’m treating people suffering from arthritis due to autoimmune diseases. Many have experienced a positive impact on their symptoms by including acupuncture into their care routine. Many have also reported that the time spent receiving acupuncture lowers their stress levels, improving their quality of life and reducing the impact stress plays in their autoimmune disease.

Acupuncture is now covered treatment under Medicare Part B for the treatment of low back pain. However, in order to use your Medicare benefits for acupuncture, you must see a participating Medicare provider. In California, licensed acupuncturists are not able to be participating Medicare providers and, unfortunately, this limits access for millions of people who are seeking help for many chronic pain conditions.
In an effort to make acupuncture more accessible, I am happy to now offer a Medicare discount of 20% off the full rate of a regular acupuncture treatment for up to 12 visits within 3 months for those currently receiving Medicare benefits and whose secondary insurance does not cover acupuncture.

Mindful eating is good way to help you feel better and have more energy throughout your day. With life being so busy, it’s easy to rush through meals and grab things that are easy to make but maybe not the healthiest choice (trust me, as a mom of 3 I know). But making time to sit for each meal and being mindful of what and how you’re eating are steps toward making a big difference on how you feel the rest of the day. Listening to your body for cues as to when you’re full, or how you feel after certain foods can help create healthy eating habits. Talking about this with your kids can also help set them up to have healthier eating habits as they grow up (at least that’s the hope 🤞).
