Customers save an average of $536 per shipment when they move their freight in Shared Truckloads instead of underutilized “full” truckloads.

The reason is straightforward: Most shippers are paying full truckload rates for freight that doesn’t fill the trailer. Instead, Flock enables multiple shippers to share trailer space, and pay for what they use.

The STL Rate Index illustrates this with a Los Angeles → Dallas example:
• In 2025, a full truck costs $3,000 and the illustrated STL savings for buying half a truck are $1,000.
• In 2026, the full truck costs $4,500 and the illustrated STL savings rise to $1,500.

When the same truck costs 50% more, the savings opportunity from buying only the space you need rises by 50% in the example. This trend is playing out across the entire market, not just in this instance.

Shared Truckload savings are not one-size-fits-all.

On a recent Southern California → Dallas movement, two shippers shared one truck instead of sending two partially filled trailers:
• Shipper A moved 32 linear feet of traffic cones and saved 28% compared with truckload.
• Shipper B moved 16 linear feet of electronics and saved 46% compared with truckload.

Same corridor. Same pooled movement. Different shipment sizes. And a meaningful savings opportunity for both.

🚨 Brake Safety Week is coming: August 23–29.

CVSA-certified inspectors across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will be out in force this year, with a sharp focus on brake drums and rotors. Any vehicle with a brake-related violation gets pulled from the road until it's fixed.

That's a big deal for everyone who has a part in moving freight throughout the US.

For shippers 📦 If your freight is on a truck pulled for inspection, that means delays if your carriers aren't prepared. The shippers who come out ahead are the ones building in extra lead time, pulling loads forward, pushing loads out and staying close to their freight ahead of the start of Brake Check Week.

For carriers 🚛 This week adds pressure. Schedules get tighter, and nobody wants an out-of-service violation costing them a load. Confident drivers with well-maintained equipment are the ones who move through this week without a hitch.
