Celebration of life announcement 🙏🏽

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Mr. George Verghese (affectionately known to us all as “Bobby Uncle”) at 4:15 AM CST today.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he lived a life anchored in faith, humility, and service. As the son of Rev. W.C. Verghese and brother of Rev. Jacob Verghese, he carried forward a rich spiritual legacy within the Church of South India.

For over 80 years, he remained steadfast in his commitment to the Church, including 41 years of faithful service to the CSI Church in Chicago after arriving in the mid-1970s. He lovingly led our choir for decades, dedicating countless hours to teaching, guiding, and encouraging generations through music and worship. Beyond the choir, he served the church in many seen and unseen ways, becoming a true pillar and cornerstone of our congregation.

Bobby Uncle was more than a leader — he was a mentor, encourager, and spiritual father figure to many. His legacy of faith and devotion will continue to live on in our church family.

He is truly irreplaceable.
