This modern coastal style custom home on Guemes Island serves as a peaceful retreat for the owners. Our team at H2D designed the space as a simple, refined and high-performance home, and we love how it turned out.

Render versus reality: H2D's Magnolia Tudor project in Seattle. The design rendering allowed the homeowners to envision the natural light and timeless finishes in the space before construction started.

This remodel and addition in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle began design in 2013, with H2D helping bring the homeowners’ vision to life through a thoughtful expansion and renovation of their traditional Craftsman home. The new spaces were designed with a modern, transitional aesthetic that complements the home’s original Craftsman character and detailing. The updated kitchen and dining room flow seamlessly into the living area, where original leaded-glass windows and coffered ceilings add a timeless sophistication and warmth to the space.
We're loving revisiting projects from our past!

One of H2D’s earliest ADU (accessory dwelling unit) projects, this 2014 remodel transformed the basement level of a home in the Richmond Beach neighborhood into a fully functional accessory dwelling unit designed for use as an Airbnb retreat. The homeowner envisioned the space as a quaint, quiet getaway for guests, thoughtfully decorating the interiors to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The design maximized every square foot while still maintaining an open, spacious feel throughout the compact footprint. Details such as the partial glass doors separating the bedroom from the living space help bring natural light deeper into the unit while preserving a sense of openness and connection between spaces.

Our interior designer, Lauren, is working on this palette for a current project. The focus is on creating an interior that is balanced and embodies quiet sophistication. Oak hardwood flooring, walnut cabinets, and lovely neutral tiles round out a timeless concept. We can't wait to see what the client picks.

In 2014, we started working with the homeowners on our Denny Blaine Modern Remodel Project. The whole-home remodel was centered on upgrading the finishes throughout all three floors of the home and incorporating a new residential cylindrical pneumatic vacuum elevator to assist with accessibility and aging-in-place.
A well-designed home should evolve with you because aging in place isn’t about compromise; it’s about creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful.
Fun fact: this project was the first permitted residential installation of the pneumatic vacuum elevator in the State of Washington!

Render versus Reality.
We started designing our Edmonds Sound and Stream project in 2020. The homeowners envisioned a space that would be unique and beautiful with a contemporary twist. We think this muted blue wall tile really delivers a beautiful pop of color. What do you think of the rendering versus the final finished space?
