H2D's waterfront Edmonds Sound + Stream project presented a complex set of environmental and logistical challenges that required careful coordination and thoughtful design.

Within these constraints, the design carefully focused on window placement, outdoor connections, and site-sensitive massing to strengthen the home’s relationship to the outdoors while respecting the environmental integrity of its remarkable setting.

The existing home on this Shoreline property had reached the end of its useful life, prompting the homeowners to pursue a full rebuild. They partnered with H2D Architecture + Design to design a new custom 3,000 sf residence - the Shoreline Classic Custom. We designed a two-story home featuring transitional design details that balance timeless appeal with contemporary functionality.

On every project, our in-house interior designers at H2D, Lauren and Kathryn, start with the intention of creating harmony through thoughtful choices.

Every wood finish, stone surface, and texture in this palette has been selected to complement one another, creating a home that feels warm, balanced, and timeless. It's this level of attention to detail that transforms a collection of materials into a beautifully designed living experience.

This Edmonds waterfront project began as a vision for a large addition and attached garage and evolved into a substantial partial rebuild of the existing home. The reimagined main floor was designed as an open, light-filled great room organized around a large kitchen and generous entertaining spaces. Expansive glass doors and a dramatic wall of windows frame views of the Puget Sound, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor connection and allowing natural light to fill the interior. Sustainability and efficiency were also central goals: the existing foundation and main floor system were salvaged and reused, while rebuilt walls support a modern double shed roofline constructed with SIP panels (Structurally Insulated Panels) over exposed wood beams.
