This guy is a wonderful teacher and friend to so many kids! I wish everyone could see the person inside the diagnosis. Shoot, I wish I had his depth of understanding with my own kid!

My boy has a serious mental illness. A portion of each day is spent trying to find the services that he needs so that he will grow into a functioning young man. The real possibilities of him spending time in jail or committing su***de loom on the edges of my mind always. I rarely let myself ponder those things for long because he needs my help and my positive attitude that we will Never Give Up. It is our mantra.

Less and less special help here in the state of Oklahoma. It is a sad thing to see so little priority given to a population of children who will one day be adults. Will imprisonment be the only option then?
